Audrey is constantly inspiring her followers to embrace their own unique style while staying true to her own love for sustainable fashion. You all know how much I love thrifting and so it's been a long time coming finally bringing someone to talk about it on the podcast.

In this episode Audrey talks about expressing her internal growth with her style while living in Nashville and how she now encourages others to do the same. During the interview we discuss her reel that was featured by Instagram that was interpreted in a way she didn't intend. It led to a lot of public push back and made her reassess the relationship she has with social media. Luckily for us she is back!

This week we have graphic designer and illustrator Jeremy Slagle on the podcast. Jeremy's work is based on empathy and storytelling and asking the question, "how can I love them through my art?" On the podcast we discuss the collaboration process with the various non-profits and businesses he has worked with throughout his career. We also chat about the children's books he has illustrated, Chin Up Chinchilla and Hip Hooray Hippo. Both are books focussed on teaching children empathy in the good times and the bad. I really loved learning about how Jeremy approaches his work and I seriously believe any creative can apply it to their own.

As you will hear in the intro I was very excited to talk to this weeks guest Branden Cook. We initially met while both studying on different courses at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (sounds fancy, we refer to it as LAMDA throughout the interview). Since then he was on the HBO show Industry and various other projects. After school he moved to LA where he booked the lead in the CW remake of the 1980s classic The Lost Boys. Unfortunately shooting had to stop after 4 days just as COVID hit the US.

We cover his time in London, what it seeing an all black cast perform Death of a Salesman in London made him realize, and I'm sure I say some random stuff that doesn't really connect.

So today's episode is a really special one. Last week I had the privilege to talk with Quianah Uptown, Southern food justice advocate, artist, creative entrepreneur and community planner. She has hosted over 24 dinners in her community to facilitate conversations focussing on food and art and is now in the process of finding a permanent space. With the help of other passionate creatives she has created the vision for Nourish Botanica, "Imagine a space that has brought together the best of black culture, combined with the healthier local food around. Imagine a space that brought Black Healing and Joy to life".

As of March 6th 2020, the Go Fund Me for Nourish Botanica has raised over 75 thousand dollars. Even though that is a MAJOR success, Quianah explains the set backs that have come their way and why there is still a far way to go.

She started modeling in 2017 and kept at it during years of constant rejection. She's only been signed since quarantine in 2020 and since has been BUSY. She's shot campaigns, done stunning editorials and was on the cover of ITALIAN VOGUE BABY. Harpers Bazarre recently highlighted in the article, 12 Stunning Black Plus-Size Models You Need to Know. In the article they say, "Akon could technically be categorized as “new” to the modeling industry—not that you could tell from her slew of high-fashion editorials and recent Italian Vogue cover. Her versatility is as impressive as her activism (she’s an ambassador for stand for educational, a global community providing access to education for children living in poverty and conflict-affected areas), and I know that big things are to come from this Sudanese native". Beautiful things are in her future for sure.

This episode I'm talking to the wonderful Jennica Hill. Jennica is an actor, improviser, writer, and producer based in Atlanta. We first met working together with the theatre company Vernal and Sere and she quickly became one of my favorite people. Recently Jennica started making YouTube videos encouraging her viewers to be, "your full magical self". The first video she spoke about discovering her bisexuality while married to her (very amazing) husband. She talks about her fears about coming out and the what it has been like since. She has been so candid and honest in all of her videos and I'm so happy she agreed to chat with me. In this video we also talk foot modeling, competitive jump roping, and moving out of LA. (NOW you gotta listen). She always says that if her videos can help one person then it has been worth it. Well, if this podcast episode can help one person love themselves a little more it is very worth it indeed.
