This week we have actor, producer, and fellow cancer, Erika Miranda on the podcast. We got real deep real fast. I cried within the first ten minutes and halfway through she says, “I don’t think I’ve told anyone this except maybe my best friend” (what is it?!?! Listen to find out). Erika is the exec producer of Cafecito Productions and SheATL Arts. We we talk about how she is using both of these production companies, as Cafecito Productions says is, “dedicated to making art that has reverence for the process and empowers the community to tell stories that explore the good and rather complicated truth of the human experience”. We talk about representation, what we say to friends in the lobby after a performance (good or... bad?), and a lot more. So honored she said yes to coming on. Like seriously.

Alyssa and I speak about how an undiagnosed brain deformation from birth led to chronic pain and continually needing to advocate for herself to get answers (and how it's made her an amazing advocate for others as a postpartum doula and her work with ethical fashion brand ABLE). We talk about mourning a life we worked for and if there isn't a shiny life lesson at the end of hard things it doesn't mean you've failed. Some things are just hard.

Ok, so yesterday Shanese Shields did a takeover on my account. We're both represented by UWM and they had the great idea of doing an Atlanta edition of Share the Mic Now. I wanted to sit down with her the next day to learn more about some of her experiences she discussed during the takeover and actually get to meet her!

We talked about her time on the sixth season of 60 Days In where she went to prison undercover while over 200 hundred cameras filmed her experience (dude). We also discuss her return to acting, her fashion line, and the screenplay she's been working on while in quarantine. Shanese is obviously so multi-talented and I'm so glad we got to have this conversation.

Hi y'all, we have Elle Langford on the podcast this week. She has done amazing work on different feature films and tv shows here in Atlanta. I think you'll find her journey as an intern that answered a HELP WANTED add on Craigslist to the Art Director on a feature film really inspiring. She was so kind to let me into her quarantine life as I know even a Zoom call can sometimes feel emotionally daunting. I know a lot of us are really looking forward to the industry in Atlanta getting started again once safe, but maybe this can fill in that hole a little bit in our little creative hearts.
