Today’s episode is a brief overview of gay and lesbian history in Seattle from 1893 to the present.

Stephani Thompson has been performing improv comedy for over 10 years in Seattle at Unexpected Productions and Jet City Improv respectively. She’s also Seattle’s only burlesque clown, Fanny Tragic. Stephani is a Seattle native, 5th generation Washingtonian and a self proclaimed moss-back. She is absolutely flattered to be a guest on The Seattle Files!

Trusted around here since 1890.  George Bartell began training as a pharmacist at age 14.  He sought adventure first on the American frontier, then in the Klondike gold rush, before building a drug store empire that thrives to this day.

Kris Corbitt is a Seattle-born performer, director, and musician in her eighth year as an unscripted actor for Jet City Improv and other groups. Catch her next at The Seattle Festival of Improv Theater (Feb. 17-21) and Cast of One (May 14).

Elena Martinez is a sketch artist in Seattle, currently writing and performing with groups Sober Virgin and Getting Naked with Friends.  She is looking forward to becoming more involved with the stand up and story telling community again.  Recently, she performed in the play Rabbit Hole at Tacoma Little Theatre.  Elena has lived in Seattle, WA for ten years, half of those accompanied by her wonderful boyfriend, two of those performing on stages, and one of those trying to win over the love of her cat.

Seattle got its first hockey team in 1916.  The following year the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans were the first American team ever to win the Stanley Cup.

Nathan Cox is a local improviser, actor and teacher. You can see him often at Jet City Improv in a variety of shows and hear him in the serial podcast adventure, Mermaid in Manhattan. In his spare time he DJs weddings, kills it at trivia and laments the Ballard of his youth.

In 1971 D.B. Cooper hijacked an airplane, collected a $200,000 ransom then disappeared without a trace.  It is to date the only unsolved skyjacking in American history.

Kesan is a comedian and producer from Milwaukee, WI. For over 13 years he has performed professionally with CSz Worldwide, and the creator of Improv/Sketch Group Worst Case Scenario and Cast Of One.

Restauranteur.  Folk singer.  Entertainer.  King of the publicity stunt.  Ivar Haglund led a colorful life and is often cited as the person who most exemplifies Seattle.

Graham Downing was born and raised in Seattle, WA. He’s an ensemble improviser with Jet City Improv and a visual artist working in painting and performance. He’s very sorry he never returned your email.

Molly Arkin is a Seattle based actor and improviser. She is 1/4 of the improv horror group, Blood Squad, and an ensemble member with Jet City Improv where she has performed most recently in Uncle Mike Ruins Christmas, and Worst Trip Ever IN ALL CAPS!1!! Molly lives in Ballard (which she loves) with her husband (who she loves) and listens to a lot of Billy Joel (loves!).

Seattle’s first female serial killer, Linda Hazzard was a quack doctor who starved her patients to death and helped herself to their valuables.

Phill Arensberg is an improvisor, actor and writer. He’s an ensemble member with Jet City Improv and can be seen in numerous productions around Seattle including “Questionable Content” at Theater Schmeater, “The Lost Folio” and “Phill & Ian’s 20 Minute radio Hour”. A product of snooty Northeastern prep schools and an early diet of George Carlin, Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor, Phill studied writing at Connecticut College and improvisation at the Second City Training Center. He loves acting history, Lovecraftian humor, cooking and his fiancée.

John Considine was king of the box houses and one of the most powerful men on Skid Row.  He was able to shoot down the chief of police in broad daylight and walk away a free man.

John Boyle is a local Seattle comedy writer and improviser. He has been a company member at Jet City Improv since 2001 and is the creator of two original shows: Worst Trip Ever IN ALL CAPS!1!! & co-creator of the critically acclaimed Election Show (with Douglas Willott) which will return for its fourth run in 2016. He lives in Seattle (a city which he apparently knows very little about!) with his hilarious wife and sleepy cat.
