Job glorified God by explaining some of what he did at creation. And asks his friends who they think they are talking to.

Baldad says the Lord is not fearful of the wicked. Even the moon obeys him, and the wicked will not escape.

Job is upset that the righteous are tried by fire, but even when the wicked are judged they make the best of it, and like it. He wants the judgement of the wicked to equal their crimes.

Job would like a hearing with the Lord where he could plead his case and receive instruction and bring an end to the matter.

After hearing his friends tell him what God does to the unrighteous Job asks the question: why then do I see ungodly men die in prosperity? Men who hated the Lord? Generally he agrees God will deal with them, but he disagrees that circumstances and friends are a method by which one can measure goodness.

Job is beginning to equate his friends with enemies who were sent against him. He acknowledges his guilt and encourages them to pity rather than judge.

Baldad erupts in anger toward Job for his attitude given the circumstances of his situation.

Job seriously contemplates his death. Wondering how this could be his end. Confused that after he thought he had done good, his end will come in Hades.
