Syria comes against Israel with 32 kings and two great armies and loses once in the hill country and again later in the valley. Afterwards, Ader asks for mercy and Ahab releases him and his men. A prophet of the Lord then tells Ahab because he released a man appointed for destruction, God will take him and his people in their place.

After Ahab tried to convince Naboth to give him his vineyard, he allowed Jezebel to solve the problem by appointing false witnesses to kill him. When Ahab went to take possession of the vineyard, Elijah informed him that his family would be cut off and the dogs would like their blood in the same place where Naboth's blood was spilled.

After defeating the prophets of Baal, Elijah runs from Jezebel who swears she will kill him when she finds him. An angel feeds Elijah twice restoring his strength and sends him on a forty day journey to anoint two kings (one of Syria and the other for Israel) and Elisha the son of Shaphat to assist him as a prophet.

After many years of draught, Elijah returned to tell Ahab to gather his prophets together for a showdown between the God of Israel and Baal. The false prophets were to offer a bullock and call down fire from heaven by Baal and whichever God responded by fire was to be Israel's God. They agreed and after losing were marched to the brook Kisson where Elijah slew them all. Afterwards Elijah prayed for rain to end the draught and a great storm came.

God sends Elijah to Ahab, and he prophecies a drought in the land due to the wickedness of Ahab. He declares no more rain but by his word and then God sends him into hiding by the brook where the ravens feed him. After the water dries up God sends Elijah to the widow of Saraphat who is preparing one last meal before their family dies. Elijah tell her to fear not and to first make a cake for him and then the meal and the cruse of oil will not fail until after the drought ends. Still her son dies, but Elijah resurrects him.

God executes judgement of the house of Baasa destroying them and cutting them off. Israel's kings civil war against each other and fight over who is king of who. Ahab, the most evil king in Israel's history comes into power and marries Jezebel, an evil witch.

A record of several kings of Juda and Israel. Asa did good in the sight of the Lord as did his father David. While the others noted did evil in God's sight. Asa gave away the treasures to the people and also made a covenant with the king of Syria to get his help fighting against Israel.

Jerusalem was plundered by Susakim, king of Egypt who carried away much of the gold objects in the temple of the Lord, which Roboam replaced with similar objects of brass. Jeroboam and Roboam warred against each other throughout both of their lives.

Because Jeroboam built high places and instituted false priests, God decreed that the priests themselves would be sacrificed on their false altar. The message was delivered by a prophet of God who was commanded to afterwards leave immediately and eat no bread and drink no water. He obeyed and another prophet of God found him and lied to him luring him back to his house for dinner. Because the prophet did not heed God's command he was devoured by a lion and buried in the tomb of the prophet who deceived him.

Because Solomon turned his heart from the Lord, God fulfills the promise to split the kingdom, leaving his son Roboam with only two tribes of Israel. The other ten appoint Jeroboam king who then fears losing his kingdom during the feasts when the people go to Jerusalem to the temple. Consequently he erects two heifers for Israel to worship and brings the curse of God on his family line.
