After having received a place of honor, Core / Korah and his brothers want more. They want the priesthood and so they come against Moses, who explains the terms of the showdown between him and Aaaron and the other Levites attempting a power grab. Later the people complain that Moses struck down the sons of Core, and for more murmuring, God sends a plague that consumes them.

There is one law for Israel and the strangers and sojourners among them. On the sabbath day a man was found gathering wood. The children of Israel brought him to Moses who sought direction from the Lord. God commanded the congregation of Israel to stone him.

Because the children of Israel doubted God, and murmured for the tenth time, he answered the prayer of their words — that they would die in the wilderness. He appoints one year of punishment for ever day the spies spied out the land. And they would bear their iniquity forty years until the entire faithless generation perished for lack of belief.

Moses sends twelve men, one from each tribe, into Chanaan to spy out the land and return with a report. Ten men feared the inhabitants and transferred that fear to the children of Israel, refusing to go in and fight. Only Caleb and Joshua / Jesus wanted to proceed.

Miriam and Aaron spoke ill of Moses and the Lord heard it and made Mariam a leper. Moses prayed for her and she was healed seven days later.

The people of Israel long for Egypt because of its meat and murmur against the Lord and demand meat from Moses. Moses turns to God who causes a wind to send quail two feet high for miles. Enough meat for a month. And then God strikes down those who lusted after the meat.

In this chapter, God explains to Israel the signals that direct troop movements. He directs Moses to make trumpets and blow them four times, once for each wing of the congregation. With a final sound to signify the last encampment deployed.

The pillar of cloud and pillar of fire guided the Israelites by day and night.

Moses and Aaron were commanded to prepare the Levites, to consecrate them as gifts to the service of the Lord and his Tabernacle for Aaron and his sons to direct.

This chapter describes the gift offerings given from Israel to God for the consecration of his tabernacle. These gifts were given daily for twelve days by each of the heads of the twelve tribes of Israel.
