The Ancient Ones

The Ancient Ones are shamans who have long since passed over but now live in the spirit world. They are wise and practised in their art of speaking to us through our intuition. For those who are more adept at communicating more directly, they can speak to us and provide energy that pushes us forward, or makes us turn away, or stops us from making errors.

This card shows up to make us pay attention to what is NOW or will be soon. Embrace change and work hard at the challenges thrown in your path. Use your intuition and spiritual strength to move past what is blocking you. Know that the messages, thoughts, and feelings sent to you now are from the Ancient Ones. Know that you have strength to overcome your physical and emotional challenges.

The Rainmaker

Manifestation. When you look at a parched field of wilting crops, you instinctively know that rain to restore balance in life that struggles to continue. The Rainmaker is here to help you in your seemingly endless, parched spiritual journey. If you have been wronged and are having trouble recovering from the hurt and malaise that has brought in your life. Resolve to let your feelings bring rain and comfort and growth to now.

You already have what you need to grow and become strong again and let what needs to die forever. You have it within yourself to pick yourself up, and move on, and grow and thrive.

The Crow

The crow is a watcher of the world. It sits in a tree, on a wall, rarely on a wire strung in the air by mankind to carry his electricity or words. 

The Crow requires we speak and practice truth in all things. When you find untruth, correct it. The crow requires we seek the truth and when we are in all things truthful, what we want becomes true, and comes into existence. 

This may mean correcting what is wrong in your life. Do not judge yourself. Truth is everything, and it is your way forward from now. Do not dwell on whether you should act truthfully in a situation, just be truthful and do not let your busy mind or ego persuade you otherwise.

In situations where you are stressed, such as at work, be truthful, speak your mind and articulate it clearly. If you find you have trouble speaking up and speaking clearly, your Throat Chakra may be blocked. This would be a good time to have the Chakra, and all the other chakras cleared so that people may hear you clearly.

The Earthkeeper

You create your own world. You populate it with people, places, things, events. You also populate it with happiness, sadness, misery, and a sunny disposition.

In creating your world, you impact the world that Mother Gaia has gifted us with. Wood furniture is made from trees that grew tall and were harvested by man. Make sure the furniture you buy is made from trees that will be replanted.

The Beloved

This is an invitation to love. To learn about love. To be free to love and experience the return of your love from another. Sometimes, the object of our passion may not be a person; it could be a pet, it could even be a garden that never seems to stop giving back to you in beautiful blooms, fragrances, growth, and abundance. 

If you are learning to love a person, do not confuse what you think is love with their personality. Personality is the totality of a person’s qualities, how they appear to others; it is their organized pattern of behavioural characteristics.

If you focus your ability to love on their personality, you will be disappointed because those attributes are not their ability to give and receive love. It was once said to me by a Finnish person that Finnish people often do not express their love as freely and often as other cultures. Instead, they demonstrate their love by doing something for you. Action speaks louder than words in their culture.

As you open yourself up to give love, you must be prepared to look at actions and deeds rather than words. 

Pachamama

Pachamama is Mother Earth, Gaia. She loves everything on earth, all that is growing, plants, flowers, trees, grasses, stones, rocks and the water that flows over the world. Pachamama loves all of humanity, in all its diversity and all of its ages.

The Mystical Shaman

The Shaman was many things to their community. Healer, story teller, leader, keeper of traditions and the person to whom the community could look to for support when times were bad and to celebrate when they were good.

He, or she, were intermediaries between the community and the spirit world which was all around them and in everything they could touch, smell, hear, and see. 

When the Shaman journeyed into altered states of consciousness to perform a divination or a healing, they were able to dream a dream that no other could. The Shaman reminds us to be in the world, in the NOW and to travel through it and yet not be defined by what we see and experience. This is the symbol of true alchemy, for all elements of life have a spiritual aspect and a material one. When we remember this, all manner of miracles and manifestations are possible.

Be careful what you pray for. 

The Mystical Shaman cautions you against relentless attachment to a certain form that you think will make you happy, prosperous, famous, loved, etc. These material forms are attractive, like stars in the night sky, they attract us like a lure attracts a fish. Do not be the fish caught on the fishermen hook and taken to shore and killed.

Is it time to imagine a new story, one that is deeper and less superficial, one that is in line with what you have become? Better tales are waiting to be told.

Water

Water is a powerful element to a Shaman. It symbolizes purification, regeneration, birth, revival, and cleansing. Water can have enormous power, carving away earth and rock, moving boulders and trees as it creates a valley, or submerges them as it creates lakes and oceans. If human kind is in the way of its creative force, it can be destructive and end lives of people and animals.

It can be sleepy and lazy as it meanders in shallow rivers across the landscape. Water that is scolding hot but is not bubbling and boiling looks the same as water just before it freezes into ice.

Water can also be something we cannot grasp. When it steams, it is as ephemeral as breath. It can be hard and unyielding as ice. 

Humans are 75% water. That includes our brain and our heart. Like the ebb and flow of the tides, allow sorrow and sadness, happiness and wonderment to flow through you now. Not only can these feelings be within you, but allow the world around you to flow over you and through you, knowing that you will remain and will move on to greater things.

This is like a baptism of newness and opportunity. There is a sense of newness, welcome it and embrace it

When we are young, we know the world is full of magic and new things to enjoy and it is a place for adventures. As we grow older, we lose that childlike wonder and appreciation for what is around us as we struggle ...

Stand Still

When we stand still, we have time to think. Standing still does not mean a lack of progress. It is a time to breathe, to consider where we are and what we have done. This week is a time to take a break and relax. In relaxation we make progress because we give ourselves the gift of time. We pause our ego driven life purposefully and enjoy the benefits of inaction with the world without taking part in it.

Standing still, or inaction is not a sign of being stuck, or stagnating. Being on the go, being a go-go person, striving relentlessly in trying to achieve is tiring and stressful. Our soul and our mind, our being is stressed and need a break from endless achievement and struggle.

Your body, your soul, is not some sort of engine that can run endlessly at full throttle. When you are finally at a standstill, enjoy what you see and hear. There are gifts the universe gives out now have a different tone and a different feel to them. Relax and recharge. Perhaps, to get a different perspective on life and everything.

This is also the time to sit back and, in your standing still, consider whether a project or task is worth the effort. The cycle of always on the go, always striving have stopped you from considering what is not working and take a different direction. Shed the burdens of people and things which you should no longer be carrying.

The Sorcerer

The Sorcerer symbolizes beliefs and ideas of division, struggle and being without. We feel the sorcerer casts a dark shadow over our lives, but in reality, the shadows are our own. Those shadows are feelings of separation from loved one, colleagues, pets. Feelings of conflict and aggression to others in order to achieve our self-centred goals.

Our shadows may be narrow, broad, or generous in their focus. Either way, our busy mind loves to feed off the shadow energy and its negative feelings. The sorcerer is asking you to look at these energies, examine how destructive they are. What are you feeling? Resentment, vengeance, lust, greed, bigotry, or hatred about or to whom or what. These feelings are unjustified and not your spiritual core, which is pushed away without consideration.

The Sorcerer challenges you, confronts your dark thinking and beliefs. Now! Is a second chance! Start over. Be strong and be vigilant about the darkness you are bringing in asked to recognise, and then to discard. 

Others are not to blame for what is inside of you, what you allow to be there. Take a moment to create a sense of peace and move in another direction, and do not allow those negative thoughts and feelings to grow again. You are done with that way of living.

Tree of Life

The Tree of Life, Yggdrasil, is a sacred symbol in Norse mythology. In Buddhism it is the Bo tree or Bodhi tree. In Islam, it is the Tree of Immortality. In Christianity, the Tree of Life first appears in Genesis in The Garden of Eden. In Hebrew, it is Etz Chaim. In the Kabbalah,

Beauty Way

Around us, there are beautiful things. Beauty may be in the home, the garden, trees, our family, our pets. Recognizing them and appreciating beauty around us is the message from the card for this week. Now, the trick is to bring beauty into your life every day. Beauty is also the way we live life, with integrity, patience, and acceptance. Patience may mean with a colleague at work, acceptance of a situation you cannot change. Where some will see darkness and struggle, look for ease and ways to bring light and energy to that situation.

Now is the time to stop and smell the roses. A moment of rest and stopping your head long rush to achieve will be highly beneficial for you. On a clear night sky, look up at the stars, astronomers know it is an amazing sight, they have names for the stars, but you don’t need those names, the fact the stars are there for you gaze on is enough. There are too many stars to count, just as there is too much wonder in you. There is beauty in you. Now is the time to learn what that is and move with it.

Nothing is truly broken. Relationships, if they are meant to heal, will do so. Do not struggle to fix friendships of people who were only meant to be in your life for a short time. They have left a gift and of their time and their connection and have moved on, so must you. At this moment, do not be seduced by the superficial glitter of something or someone you are flirting with. There may be a price to pay later.

The Staff

The Shaman’s staff is an important element of Shamanism and each Shaman has a staff that is uniquely their own.

It is a symbol of authority and power.

The staff gives you the power to find the middle course amongst many competing energies because it allows you to divine what is right and wrong and what must change for success. Moses carried a serpent staff through the desert, and with it he could summon the power of nature to heal or call plagues. 

Use the staff energy to find the middle ground, the middle ground tells you that all things must change. The middle ground is a balancing point between negativity and positivity, between paralysis and movement. Trust in the card as you move forward to what you have always wanted, the energy in the Staff will help find that delicate balance between will and surrender, day and night, action and inaction.

Take corrective action if it is needed as you move forward. Your life is in the hands of destiny, fate, the universe, but nothing says you cannot steer it course, the Staff helps with course adjustments, just as it does with the start and end of action.

Stand Still

Standing Still, or inaction is not a sign of being stuck, or stagnating. Being on the go, being a go-go person, always striving relentlessly in trying to achieve, that is what this card is all about. Standing still is to take the stress away from endless achievement and struggle.

Your body, your soul, is not some sort of engine that can run endlessly at full throttle. Wind down and enjoy doing so. When you are finally at a standstill, enjoy what you see and hear. There are gifts the universe gives out have a different tone and a different feel to them. This is one of them I call it relaxing and recharging. Perhaps, to get a different perspective on life and everything.

This is also the time to sit back and, in your standing, still, consider whether a project or task is worth the effort. The cycle of always on the go, always striving and you have the time and mental capacity to stop things that are not working to take a different direction. Shed the burdens of people and things which you should no longer be carrying.

The Council

At the end of our lives, before we are reborn, there is a period known in some schools of Buddhism as the Bardo State. While in the Bardo, our spirit is conscious and experiences the karma of the life that has just ended and all previous lives. It is a time of spiritual learning and also cleansing.
