The Minvera family lived in a fine two-story home, with a wraparound porch, scalloped wood trim like fish scales, a short round tower with a cone roof, and a tiny balcony off the second-story bedroom. It was an inheritance leftover from what was once the family house that looked over a great orchard, but now it sat on a small, uneven plot of land fenced in on each side over time by different neighbors so that each section of property fence ended in odd places with odd alleys between them...
