At what point is it okay to just tell someone to go to hell? You know, that point at which we decide that the things they have done or are doing are unforgivable. When we are ready to let them be cast into the burning pit?

Good news! Jesus covered that with his disciples! He's given us clear guidance on exactly when it's okay to turn our backs on another person. The answer might surprise you. Does that sound click-baity? It probably is, but you'll have to listen to this week's message to find out for sure!

Who is the most valuable and who can we discount as unimportant? 

Who is loved by God and who is it okay for us to hate?

That guy over there has always been a jerk to me, so it's okay for me to look down on him, right?

This woman has caused a lot of evil to be done over the years. It's okay for me to distain her actions and consign her to the pits of hell, isn't it?

This week we start to look at Matthew chapter 18, which tells us exactly how Jesus would answer all of these questions.

Once upon a time there was a man who was interested in taxes. Then Jesus did this thing that resonated with him and he realized that he never needed to pay taxes again and that he could choose to pay anyway.

A thing like that is so crazy someone had to write it down so it wouldn't be forgotten. So he did.

Jesus left for a night and his disciples fell apart.
We've all been there, right? Someone leaves you in charge of something and suddenly you feel lost, cast adrift, unable to remember or trust the things that you really DO know to be true and you just utterly lose faith that you can do anything at all.
That happened to these guys.
Then Jesus came back...

Who do you wish would just go away because they are annoying you?

When your focus gets locked on one thing, you often forget or miss other things that are equally or even MORE important.

You've heard this story a thousand times, but the way you've heard it is wrong. What you need to understand is that you can be everything God says you can - which is so much more than you are willing to believe, at least at first.

Today we look at the story of Jesus walking on water and how Peter did this crazy thing where he got out of the boat when Jesus told him he could and then he was able to walk on the water too. And we're going to figure out if that means anything to us today or if it's just a nice story.
