The Short Cameo

The MCU would like to take this moment to talk about drug abuse and the dangers of taking illicit substances you find on the ground in warehouses. If you do so, please be alert for sudden super soldier abilities, and the urge to throw frisbees at your enemies’ necks.

Oh, and this week’s ‘injection’ of our favourite sidekick and his homicidal friend sees Nick make way too many dumb puns about drug use. However, that doesn’t stop the big questions which include a deep dive into Sharon and her satellites, Wakanda’s sneaky winter soldier fail-safe, and discount Steve ‘jacking up’ his prices.

The Marvel train rolls on and Nick takes full advantage by adding to his collection of quickfire, non-researched (easy to edit) reviews.

The BIG questions for the BIG thinkers this week include a concern for the American Correctional System’s security, is Bucky only interesting when channelling his inner Jason Bourne, and should we be focusing on Bucky, Sam, Sam’s sister, Mr Nakashima, Discount Steve, Zemo, Sharon, Flag-smashers, Powerbrokers, Isaiah, Super-soldiers, or Wakanda?

Nick makes rare (and unlikely to be repeated) Short Cameo history by releasing a third podcast in a single month. The other new tradition continues with another rapid fire, non-researched review of the latest addition to the Marvel (Disney) TV dynasty.

Some traditions though will never change as the big questions are once again explored. The focus this week being on the benefits of banter-focused therapy, discount Steve Rogers, discount Winter Soldiers, and discount Battlestar? Oh, and just in case you forgot, his name is ZEEEMO!

After a long stint of formulaic podcasts (all 5 of them) Nick breaks tradition with a rapid fire, non-researched review of Marvel’s most recent stint in the TV realm.

Apart from that, nothing really changes as the big questions are once again addressed. Why should Sam trade in a jet pack with wings, for a frisbee from the 1930’s? Should Bucky fire his terrible therapist? And was that the roughest first date in MCU history?

A step up from last week sees another film with a man from down under, but he’s the star this time mate! But first, this week’s movie news discusses the properly researched story behind the Spiderman 3 title, new movies making headlines, and whether or not the Harry and Meghan Oprah interview qualifies as reality TV.

Nick then ‘extracts’ a Netflix original movie (ba dum tis) for the usual over-analysis and complaints about poor emotional character development. But how GOOD are those action scenes!? Other highlights include discussions on urine-stained roll film, one-shot epics, and is John Wick with an Aussie accent considered fresh in Hollywood?

For a change, Nick reviews a non-comic book movie that's also not owned by Disney. But firstly, a Disney-focused week of movie news discusses how Spiderman is melting the internet, is WandaVision living up to the hype, and when did Paramount make a streaming service??

Nick then happily shows favouritism with his movie choices by breaking down an all-time favourite. Edge of Tomorrow flopped at the box office, but that’s all moot once Bill Paxton starts talking about fiery crucibles. Also, Tom Cruise yet again proves himself an action stunt nut, how old is he again? And who cares about any of this when there’s an Aussie in the film!

Everything’s delayed!!

A week of announcements sees all major movies once again being pushed back. Is this the death of cinema? Are streaming services the new monopolies? Does any of this really matter given the global pandemic? Join Nick as he answers none of these questions but instead offers some useless titbits he found on the internet while discussing the new Kong vs. Godzilla trailer.

Nevertheless, more time will be spent on dissecting the most controversial movie of all time (Wonder Woman 1984) and answering the BIG questions like: Did Steve just ruin some random guy’s life? Why do characters have to talk so much? And what lucrative deal is Kristen Wiig getting at her local hairdresser?

Nothing like a new year and a new Pixar movie to spark some unnecessary introspective thought. Join Nick as he contemplates the movies he’s looking forward to in 2021, and whether or not we’ll be able to see them. Then a review of Soul has the discussion casually explore the purpose of life, teenage angst, and the pitfalls of obsessions and insecurities…you know, the easy stuff.

Iron Man kickstarted the MCU empire, so it should be able to kickstart a solo podcast narrated by a medical student with a dangerous Netflix addiction. Nick opens his podcast account by discussing his unrealistic expectations of Pixar’s new movie Soul, and Tom Cruise’s bad day at the office. Then the main event involves an overly descriptive analysis of Iron Man including, but not limited to the birth of Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jnr’s resurrection, and whether or not great movies require great villains.
