From FRANCE- Press reviews from Brazil on the election of Lula da Silva in Brazil. Pro-Bolsonaro truck drivers shut down roads in many parts of Brazil. A press review on the critical election in Israel, which as of this moment has been won by Netanyahu. Press on the UN Climate Conference in Egypt, COP 27, which begins this weekend.
From GERMANY-- Palestinian leaders voiced concern that the return of Netanyahu could escalate conflict in the region. Students in Iran continue to protest against the Islamic Republic despite warnings. The Arab League is meeting for the first time in 3 years. Police in Brazil used tear gas to disperse pro-Bolsonaro protests. The UN Security Council denied a Russian call to investigate allegations that the US is developing biological weapons in Ukraine. The UN says glaciers in Yosemite and Yellowstone will disappear by 2050 due to global warming. Climate protestors are driven to daily civil disobedience until governments put the environment at the top of their agenda. South Korea and the US have agreed to extend the joint military drills which North Korea is launching missiles in protest of
From JAPAN- In South Korea over 150 people were crushed to death at a crowded street party in Seoul. Then several reports on the increasingly dangerous military actions in the Koreas- the week began with the North warning the South and the US to cease their joint military drills. The South joined in launching missiles and the US announced an extension of the military drills.
From CUBA- After 20 years without being charged, a Pakistani businessman has been released from Guantanamo Bay prison. The European Parliament has banned the sale of gasoline and diesel cars and vans by 2035. 5 former European Foreign ministers published an open letter accusing Israeli policies against Palestinians as a crime of apartheid- the UN says it will investigate the charges.
