This story has really gotten some legs lately (bad pun intended??). The Today Show, People magazine and other outlets have picked up the tale of Bella, the 11 year old in the Lansing school district who was shamed because of the way she had dressed that day -- in a rather innocent looking tunic and leggings. This got some people fired up and thoughts were all over the board. Check out #TheShowKC segment from last week - BEFORE all the national attention.
Big day for the SHOWcast: first, #TheShowKC chatted with teachers about this bottle flipping phenomenon. Isn't it so annoying? Listeners tried to guess the best TV couples of all time. Then, it was time for Face Your Fears Friday. Jen was surprised by the Rat Man from The Edge of Hell Haunted House, who confronted Jen with live rats in the studio! It turned out to be a 2-for-1, since a clown accompanied Rat Man and scared the pants off of Shaylee the Millennial! Finally, we capped off a great Friday with Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls) who is hosting the new season of Food Network's Halloween Wars.
What is the worst thing you've heard from your kid's teacher during conferences? That leads The Show Wants To Know today. Then, somehow, everyone got on the bad joke train. Multiple people try to win Trick or Trending (hint: none of them succeed) and there is no trust amongst #TheShowKC crew. All in a day's podcast...
All from #TheShowKC on Wednesday, September 28th. First, a spirited game of Gen X vs. Millennial where Shaylee and caller Tim square off for NASCAR tickets. Then, the crew discusses guys buying girly products - which is never a good idea. What are your go-to excuses to get out of stuff? A caller weighs in. Finally, the punishments we face for various show challenges are getting tougher and tougher. How far will The Show go?
Uber drivers, Z-Trip drivers, passengers of all kinds...did you take a crazy trip this weekend? Every Monday #TheShowKC asks for your stories from the front or backseat of a human delivery service in Tales From The Trip!
In this week's edition of KC Closeup we talk with Karl Kramer, communications director at McCarthy Auto Group, who is raising money for breast cancer awareness as part of a group called Real Men Wear Pink. Karl has an important message for spouses of those battling breast cancer: it is not just a solo disease. In the second half of the show we focus on the arts. The Universal Film Festival comes to Cinemark Palace on the Plaza this Thursday. We talk with Sarah, the social media director, about the festival, its origins and mission.
Donny and Marie. Soldier of Love. Dancing With The Stars. Puppy Love. Donny Osmond is one of the most enduring entertainers and crosses generations with his decades of work. He's about to put out his 60th studio album and is unveiling new products in his Donny Osmond Home line of furniture and accessories at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City. And yes, he took the time to stop by #TheShowKC for a little chat!
Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy have a new Netflix special out called "We've Been Thnkin'", taken from their latest US tour. Larry called to chat with #TheShowKC about his love of Golden Corral, meeting KC Olympian Jack Sock and what "GBR" really stands for (hint: it is NOT Great Barrier Reef!).
Tonight is the new season premiere of one of Jen and Truta's favorite shows: Modern Family! Rico Rodriguez has played Manny (the "son" of Ed O'Neill and Sofia Vergara) since he was 10 years old. Rico called to chat about the new season, his literacy project with Pizza Hut and why he has a secret love of our Kansas City Chiefs! #TheShowKC #ModernFamily
A new season of Survivor is about to kick-off on CBS and #TheShowKC got a preview thanks to competitor Zeke! He's a 28 year old super-fan from Brooklyn. Listen as he talks about the divide between Gen Xers and the Millennials on the show, his strategy going into the game and what past season was his favorite.
