  • SHOWcast 10/25/2016: Kid Ghost Stories, Best Set-ups, Popular Halloween Costumes

From Tuesday's #TheShowKC: The World Series begins Tuesday night in Cleveland. Everyone is getting ready for the Shaylee Dating Game on Thursday. There is much to prepare: if you have a question you would like us to ask of the Bachelors, tweet/FB comment/text or send e-mail to: [email protected] Usually things never work out when friends set you up with a date. The Show Wants To Know...what were your set-up horror stories? Turns out, we actually got a happy story of a couple that's been together 20 years. We had to get into Halloween and find out the top costumes of the year. Anna from the National Retail Federation let us in on all of the holiday scoop. Finally, a friend of ours on Facebook posted a story about her kid talking about a man she sees in her room at night. A "bad man." We opened up the lines for kid ghost stories...and freaked ourselves out in the process. Just listen!

  • SHOWcast 10/24/2016: Six Degrees of The Show Winner, Unrealized Fears

From Monday's #TheShowKC: congratulations to the Cubs, going to the World Series for the first time since 1945. Did you hear Scottie Pippen sing an awful version of Take Me Out To The Ballgame? KC has some playoff contenders...Sporting KC plays Seattle in round 1 on Thursday night. The Chiefs looked good beating the Saints on a perfect Sunday afternoon. Jen takes Truta and Shaylee to task for the Face Your Fears Friday ideas they never pulled off. Truta argued they were just concepts, not actual plans (fake heart attack, anyone?). Renee from Leawood was crowned the winner of the Six Degrees of The Show contest. Renee got Drew Scott from Property Brothers on @HGTV to call-in. With the win, Renee gets over $1,300 worth of Kitchen Aid appliances, and she is donating them to A Child's Hope, a charity to help foster kids. The Show talked to Renee AND, for those who missed it, revisits our call with Drew Scott. The megaphone makes a return as a karaoke tool AND the millennial translator. The girls laugh about a sign that was posted in our bathroom at work. And Truta saw something at the Chiefs game that blew his mind...a self-driving car??

  • SHOWcast 10/21/2016: Accidental "I Love You's", Bullhorn Mentions, James Johan (sort of)

From Friday's #TheShowKC: fall is here with a vengeance (for now). Stephen Baldwin is not amused by his brother's Trump impersonation. Jen accidentally dropped an "I love you" on our building's security guard. We took calls from people who have said "I love you" to someone out of habit. The Millennial Translator was back (in the form of Truta's bullhorn). People felt like things sound cooler when said through a megaphone, so Truta gave some shout-outs to local high schools and a couple of birthdays. Truta got Jen and Shaylee to play a game of "How Does The Story End" about a news anchor in Florida who became....well, just listen. Comedian James Johan stopped by for half a second to chat up his shows at Stanfords this weekend. And Jen tries to find a Halloween costume.

  • SHOWcast 10/20/2016: Throwback Throwdown, Where Did You Fall Asleep?

NOTE: voting segments and competitions from today's SHOWcast are CLOSED. Please do not try to text or call! Thursday's #TheShowKC was all about the Throwback Throwdown. Every Thursday, The Show will present you with 3 options of a throwback song, picked by each cast member. Today Jen chose Deee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart." Truta went with "Butterfly" by Crazy Town and Shaylee stuck with Mandy Moore (pre-This Is Us) and her early tune "Candy." You just have to hear how the voting turned out. In between, check out the #1 thing people do in meetings, an update on the Shaylee dating game that is coming next week, where was the weirdest place you've ever fallen asleep, and Time's most influential teens.

  • SHOWcast 10/19/2016: The Sausage Election, Gen X vs Millennial, Shaylee is Smart

From #TheShowKC: Ever had one of those days?? Truta was cursed from the time he woke up Wednesday morning. Candy Crush is being made into a TV show. Truta's kid won't stop climbing the walls. Did Billy Bush get railroaded? The girls are still excited for Christmas. Bob Evans restaurants held the Sausage Election Selection where America had to choose between links or patties. Find out what type of sausage won the popular vote. Also, did links or patties fare better with men or women/Dems or Republicans or Libertarians? To follow up, Truta played the BEST consumer complaint call of all time. "I wanna eat, dammit!" Make sure you listen for the Throwback Throwdown every Thursday morning. You'll get to vote on The Show's Throwback song. The winner will be played at 8:45. Shaylee and listener Jessica play Gen-X vs Millennial. Shaylee doesn't know Madonna....or Video Killed the Radio Star...and later in the show we find out just how confused a young Shaylee was about the movie Walk The Line. Listen and love The Show!

  • SHOWcast 10/18/2016: School Lunches, Craigslist Stuff, Fox 4's Mark Alford

From #TheShowKC: the weather is turning back to pumpkin spice temperatures. Jen's kidney is stable today although she is having weird dreams. The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame announced new nominees. Crawling like a baby is the new planking...but Truta doesn't know what planking is. The Ken Bone mustache is coming along quite nicely. While watching the school lunch menus on TV Jen noticed Blue Springs was eating fish stick nachos. What the hell is that? What were the worst school lunches you had? Listeners weigh in. The girls saw a Christmas-themed commercial on TV and are getting really excited about decorating for the holiday. Jen found free beer on Craigslist. Yes, free beer! Only in Independence. Finally, Mark Alford from Fox 4 called in on behalf of Katie for the Six Degrees of The Show celebrity call contest.

  • SHOWcast 10/17/2016: Stressed Out Moms, Tales From The Trip, Jen's Kidney

Things got a little loopy on #TheShowKC today...partly because Jen is hopped up on pain meds for her kidney pain. We did manage to get through all of the big headlines from over the weekend: the Chiefs big win in Oakland yesterday, the Cubbies one-run loss, the continuing Trumpster-fire and accompanying SNL laughfest. It was race weekend in KC and our favorite Uber driver, Jeff, called in with a story about picking up Jeff Burton and taking him to Top Golf. Truta found a story that said moms are more stressed out while dads just hang out and have fun. We definitely had some moms unload -- and even got a hard-working dad to chime in with his input!

Sue Vicoey is the co-founder of My Power of One and a force for good in the world. Sue has produced films about the homeless and other humanitarian causes. She and her husband recently embarked on a year-long road trip that involved various acts of kindness and mercy. A couple of years ago, Sue started an apparel company to help spread her message of empowerment. Right now she has a few specials that will assist victims of Hurricane Matthew. To hear her tell the story is amazing, and that's exactly what she does in this captivating edition of KC Closeup.

  • SHOWcast 10/14/2016: Drew Scott (Property Brothers), Steve Hytner (Seinfeld), Generation Z

BUSY day on #TheShowKC: Jen's niece Katie is visiting from Chicago and came to help us decipher what is now known as Generation Z. And we thought Shaylee the Millennial didn't get some of our jokes! Whoa! It's Red Friday, Chiefs play the Raiders on Sunday. It's also going to be warm and beautiful (and un-fall-like) this weekend, which makes Jen sad. There's a new craze in the selfie world: you have to THROW your phone in the air while taking the selfie. Of course we tried it (see our results on Facebook). This is going to result in a lot of broken phones. Kent Stock called in as part of our Six Degrees of The Show contest. Kent coached a baseball team in Iowa and became the real-life inspiration for the movie The Final Season starring Sean Astin. Then, comedian Steve Hytner stopped by to talk about his time on Seinfeld, Zack & Cody and even clowns, which made Shaylee sad. Finally, one of the Property Brothers, Drew Scott of HGTV fame, called in for listener Renee as her Six Degrees entrant. That ended the show on a good note! See you next week with more celebs and more winning!

  • SHOWcast 10/13/2016: Big Item Pick-up, Bad Boys vs Good Guys, Susan G. Komen Concert

From today's #TheShowKC: it's too cold to wake up for a morning show. Why does Jen want to have dinner with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen? Big item pick-up is this week in Jen's neighborhood. What is the best thing you've ever picked up from a big item pick-up? Or, who's gone dumpster-diving? Shaylee the Millennial and Jen went to The Roasterie to make a "Jen-X/Millennial Brew." Coming soon to a mug near you. Then The Show gets on the topic of bad boys vs good guys. Why do women always choose the bad boys? We get both genders' perspective. Heather and Carli announced Barenaked Ladies will be playing Komen's Rock The Ribbon 2 concert, January 13th at the Midland!! We are so excited to be part of this show! Will there be a Face Your Fears Friday tomorrow? And who will be next in Six Degrees of The Show? Keep listening to find out...
