The Show with Jen and Truta

Among the birthday surprises was one of our favorite actresses; Kansas City native Bebe Wood (The Real O'Neals, The New Normal) called in to wish Truta a happy birthday. However, the best part was WHERE she was calling from: only the set of The Real O'Neals on the first day of shooting Season 2! Hello! We love Bebe and wish her the best for a good upcoming season! #TheShowKC @Bebe_wood

Of all of the surprise guests on the birthday show, Truta's favorite had to be his Peanut! Adi brought Reese's Pieces, a balloon and even dressed herself in Jayhawk colors! Listen as Adi discusses the upcoming school year, her favorite TV shows and what she likes to do during the summer. #TheShowKC #BirthdayWeek

The birthday surprises continued with a call-in from Kansas City Royals legendary second baseman Frank White! Listen as the All-Star reveals plans for his new Hy-Vee bobblehead, the "Royal Frank" hot dog and his political future. #TheShowKC

Jen planned some big surprises for Truta's birthday show, and we're going to celebrate all day long! One of the first surprise guests was the brand new voice of Kansas Jayhawks football and basketball, Brian Hanni! Brian is a KU grad, Topeka native and loves dogs -- a winner in our book. Welcome back to Lawrence, Brian! And thanks for hanging out with #TheShowKC and for bringing the birthday wishes! Can't wait to hear you on the call.

Valentin Chmerkovskiy and his brother Maks are two of the ladies' favorites among the Dancing With The Stars cast. As it turns out, Maks and Val are coming to Kansas City as part of their "Our Way" tour. This is a great "behind-the-scenes" of typical interviews; most are superficial and fluff about the particular show or topic the celeb is pushing. But Val was different. Listen as he gets passionate about immigration, giving back to America, following dreams and being informed about what's happening in the world. It's a great conversation! #TheShowKC #MaksAndVal #DWTS

Truta and Shaylee, the Millennial/Promotions Guru, have been asked to play in the Sporting KC Media Game at halftime of today's match against Portland. Fox 4 sports reporter Jason Lamb called us up to chat about the match and breakdown what is sure to be a "memorable" media match-up.

Truta and his woman have been shopping for furniture and wanted to look at a couple of items on Craigslist. When people warned them to be careful, Truta had to wonder what was up with Craigslist? Is there really a Craigslist killer? What crazy things have happened when listeners tried to buy or sell stuff online? Check out the stories... #TheShowKC

Next to political rants and pictures of Blake Shelton, Truta has noticed an abundance of "pimple popping" videos on Facebook. Have you seen these? Videos of white crud oozing out of peoples' faces, backs and who-knows-what. The thing is, while gross, Truta finds these videos oddly satisfying. But the discussion got even better when a "pimple popper" called in to talk about her job doing this for other people. Just another day on #TheShowKC

AS #TheShowKC celebrates #ChristmasInJuly, so does Mayor Sly James of KCMO! The Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund has opened in July this year, to accommodate the many requests for help it receives from families and individuals across the metro. Donate now if you can at KCMayor.org/ChristmasTree or text the word "Christmas" to 72727.

It's another round of Gen-X vs Millennial with Shaylee, our resident young person, going against Amber. What may be more impressive from this segment is Truta's recitation of the entire opening segment from The Peoples Court. Enjoy! #TheShowKC #GenXvsMillennial
