When we were young, the Dukes of Hazzard was everything! How many of us wanted to jump in the window of our parents' cars? The Duke boys were always up to something, and this weekend that something is Kansas City ComiCon at Bartle Hall. See both Tom Wopat and John Schneider this weekend! Check out Tom on #TheShowKC talking about Hamilton, playing bluegrass music and Wisconsin.
Rob Schneider (SNL, Happy Gilmore, Grown Ups, etc) called in to chat with The Show this morning, live from the set of the brand new Adam Sandler film. During the course of conversation Rob discovered that The Show was about to experience "cupping" and revealed that he's done it for years. Check out Rob Schneider this weekend (Aug 12-14th) at the KC Improv in Zona Rosa!
It's been all the craze among Olympians -- and all the talk back here at home. The dark purple circles seen on the bodies of athletes like Michael Phelps. It comes from an ancient Chinese method called Cupping. What is cupping exactly? Does it hurt? How does it help, if at all? Today #TheShowKC brought Kathleen Coleton to explain and demonstrate this old healing art. Check out the companion Facebook Live video and see for yourself or call Kathleen at 816-822-0500!
A few months ago #TheShowKC told you about wine for your cat from Apollo Peak. Well, the guys didn't want our other four-legged friends left out, so they are coming out with Dog Wine! Brandon from Apollo Peak called us up to chat about this new canine concoction. Check it out!
You may not realize, but there are high level athletes all around us. As Jen and Truta get into the Olympic spirit, we have found some of those people around KC. Today we talk to Scott Russell, a teacher in the Basehor-Lindwood area, who has set record in javelin throw and other track and field events from Canada to the University of Kansas. Scott talked with #TheShowKC about his time in #Beijing for the 2008 #Olympics, the training it takes to make the Olympics and what he is up to now.
KC102.1's Public Affairs show, KC Closeup, hosted by Jen and Truta from The Show. In today's edition, we talk to organizers of Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure 5k, which will be held one week from today. We also discuss the work of the Susan G. Komen foundation in helping fund research for breast cancer cures. This morning we also talked about the Head For The Cure 5k to benefit brain cancer research. This annual event is coming up August 28th at Corporate Woods, with more than 5,000 participants in Kansas City alone. Team Little Owl is just one of the teams taking part in the day's activities. Jen and Truta were really struck by a story on @Fox4KC the other day (original link here: http://goo.gl/uYyoh4) about a couple of KC kids who wanted Super Heroes at their birthday parties, but were stood up by a Lee's Summit party company. Well, this morning, #TheShowKC got together with Cool Crest and Kansas City ComiCon to set things right. You may need to grab a kleenex: it could get a little dusty in the room. Check it out!
