You knew him as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, the gruff drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket. It was a role and a character he would reprise in numerous TV shows and commercials from the History Channel to Geico. But did you know Mr. Ermy was a Kansas boy? Born in Emporia and raised in the Kansas City area, Ermey lived around this part of the world until age 14. R. Lee Ermey passed away Sunday, April 15th 2018 at the age of 74. In this interview from the Truta Archives, dated January 19, 2005 from KCTE-AM radio, R. Lee talks about Full Metal Jacket, why he never curses in real life, and the surprising modern facility that is now built on the place of his boyhood home.

It's Gen-X vs. Millennial day on #TheShowKC and Jen may or may not have been upset that Shaylee was unaware of a certain movie, it's mainly a may!
