In this episode, Michelle interviews Julie Cosgrove, a certified menopause coach, to discuss the symptoms and challenges of menopause. Julie shares her journey into menopause coaching and the importance of raising awareness about the topic. They explore the different stages of menopause, including perimenopause and menopause itself.

Julie’s background is being a Registered Nurse having qualified in 1989, She worked in clinical practice until 2017 & and previously as a complementary therapist. Since then, She have worked within disability assessments and currently absence management, or Occupational Health. She is also a Mental Health First Aider, i-act (for positive mental health and wellbeing) manager, as well as able to offer the REST programme a second generation CBTi for insomnia.

In this episode, Michelle Da Silva discusses eating disorders and the relationship we have with food with her guests Anna, a disordered eating and body image psychologist, and Henry, Lead Pastor at Jesus House International. Henry has authored several books including the best seller The Heart of A True Lover, How To Overcome The Spirit of Anger, What is Prayerlessness, Dear God, Express Your Heart, 50 days of loving you, and several other books. He is currently working on TV series on stories from the bible and also working on releasing a book on a scriptural guide to Healthy Eating.

Anna emphasizes the importance of breaking the silence and speaking out about eating disorders, while Henry highlights the significance of having a positive attitude and mindset towards food.

 The negative impact of diet culture

 The importance of seeking help 

 Understanding the relationship that food provides, our bodies are smarter than we think, and they respond to the way we treat and view food.

Episode 4:  #living with  disabilities 
 

In this conversation, Michelle speaks with Minister Alma Thomas and Michelle Steiner about living with disabilities. Alma shares her experience of having a stroke and how she has found purpose and inspiration in her life despite her disability. 

Michelle discusses her journey of living with a learning disability and the challenges she has faced socially and academically.

Michelle Steiner lives with an invisible disability.
She has articles published on The Mighty, Non-Verbal Learning Project, Dyscalculia Blog, The Reluctant Spoonie, Kalopina Collective, Imagine the World as One Magazine, and Word Gathering. Her photographs were featured in Word Gathering Independent and Work Ready. She works as a paraeducator in a school for students with disabilities. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two cats.

In this episode, Michelle Da Silva interviews Jordan Clements, a private chef and recovery support champion, about his experience with addiction.
 As a professional private chef his addiction to drugs didn’t start until late in life, and the mystery and magic was very short lived. 
 Having worked with some of the industry’s top names, chef Jordan has seen all ends of the addiction spectrum. Addicted to work, healthy living, drink, drugs and inevitably anything that would keep his mind busy enough to prevent him facing the trauma he suffered as a child.

In this episode Jordan discusses:

Ø  How Denial is a common stage in addiction, believing we are in control when we may not be.

Ø  How Addiction can stem from trying to escape or run away from past traumas or unresolved emotions.

Ø  Societal pressures that contribute to addiction and the importance of self-worth and acceptance in the recovery process.

Ø  How Family members and friends can offer empathy and support in the addiction process.
