  • 185: How to supercharge your self-confidence - with Kate Eckman (REPLAY)

Stepping back out into the world might require a supercharge of your self-confidence. Things are opening back up again (ever so slowly) and the world is finding it's pace once again. But are you?

Thrilled to present another all-star episode from The Simplifiers Podcast vault, this round, we are talking all about how to supercharge your self-confidence featuring a recent conversation with author Kate Eckman. We spoke in April 2021 and that conversation really stuck in my mind for ages afterward. She believes that when we take good care of our inner world, our outer world takes care of itself. All of this is rooted in research-backed strategies in neuroscience and whole-person coaching, with a specific focus on all three parts equally: mind-body-spirit.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Kate Eckman and she's simplifying how to supercharge your self-confidence.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

    • Why she believes we are prone to a lack of self-confidence these days, especially as women… What's underneath it all, hidden away and keeping us from what we really want in life
    • Society puts such an emphasis on our physical bodies, to lose weight and stay healthy… why she believes it's time to focus on "shedding excess emotional and spiritual pounds" instead
    • What "The Full Spirit Workout" is and the ten steps that'll supercharge your self-confidence from the inside out:
      • Stretch your comfort zone
      • Lift yourself up
      • Feel the burn
      • Strengthen your core confidence
      • Build your emotional muscles
      • Boost your mental metabolism
      • Step up your spiritual stamina
      • Embrace your endorphins
      • Rock the freedom freestyle
      • Cool down with inner calm
    • How to strengthen your core confidence through trust and the 5 Ps
      • Presence
      • Patience
      • Purpose
      • Preparation
      • Practice
    • …and ultimately, how to boost your "mental metabolism" to help you shift through any mindset blocks and help you see opportunities where you once saw insurmountable hurdles.

I'm so thrilled if this is the first time you've heard of Kate Eckman and her work because I'm willing to bet you'll really resonate with her story and what she's learned along the way.

If you've struggled with the feeling of "not enough-ness" in your work or life, my hope is that you find the answer to break free from that vicious cycle today. And more importantly, that you remember, the key to everything you desire and the ability to supercharge your self-confidence is actually within you right here, right now. It's closer than you think…

Q: Are you ready to supercharge your self-confidence? If yes, this one is for you.

    It's time to #DoTheThing!

  • 184: How to organize your life + make more time - with Nache Snow (REPLAY)

Thrilled to present another all-star episode from The Simplifiers Podcast vault, this round, we are talking all about how to make more time in life. Yes, please! Now more than ever, we need this… kids are going back-to-school, the world is reopening again, and we're organizing our lives in a new way. It's all about re-prioritizing your schedule and dusting off the routines that keep you thriving.

My special guest today is Nache Snow and she's simplifying how to organize your life and make more time. We spoke in September 2020 and so much of what she shared back then is incredibly relevant to us all now. It's time to get back to the basics, do less, and give ourselves permission to (truly) rest more to recharge and flip the script on productivity altogether.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Nache Snow and she's simplifying how to organize your life + make more time.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

    • what's working for her with time management through the pandemic and with life being so upside down this year
    • how to take an inventory of where your time goes through this week ahead
    • why batching your tasks will help you make more time in your life… here's how to do it
    • what happens every time you look back on your day and say, "that task took way longer than I expected!!?" - what's going on there?
    • …and ultimately, she shares the very best, practical tools she uses to help her stay accountable to her daily schedule and keep on track.

Let me be clear… this episode is NOT going to perpetuate the productivity shame and noise that you may have heard throughout the lockdown season… the trope of "you're wasting time if you're not doing ALL the things right now!"

What I hope you glean from this is actually to learn how to do less, re-prioritize everything on your plate, and remember how to give yourself a little bit of grace all along the way.

Our generation has never experienced something quite like this in our lifetime. This is uncharted territory and that is HUGE.

    So hear my words…

You're doing a great job. Keep going... and remember what brings you joy and helps you remember who you are, deep down inside. Focus here first and when you make time for these experiences, your life expands exponentially as well.

Q: Are you looking to organize your life and make more time? If yes, this one is for you.

    It's time to #DoTheThing!

  • 183: How to tap into your Intuition to make better decisions - with Kim Chestney (REPLAY)

What if you could tap into your Intuition to make better decisions… would you try? Many believe you decide with either your head, your heart or your gut… that deep, inner knowing when grappling with a situation. But what if you could better tune into that voice inside you to gain clearer insight and a solid path to follow in the months ahead?

My special guest today is Kim Chestney and she's simplifying how to tap into your Intuition to make better decisions. As we all gear up for back to school and saying goodbye to the summer break, I'm reaching back into the vault for some of my favorite conversations on the podcast that'll help you simplify and feel empowered moving into the new season ahead.

The four primary pillars that I aim to simplify on this podcast are:

    • gaining clarity
    • getting things done
    • increasing your sales, and
    • teaching you new ways to look after yourself

So this week we are focusing on clarity and now more than ever, we need a guide to lead us through. Spoiler alert, that guide is YOU… and your deep, inner wisdom. Kim teaches us how to tune in to what your Intuition is trying to say.

My special guest today is Kim Chestney and she's simplifying how to tap into your Intuition to make better decisions.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

    • How she defines "Radical Intuition" - what it is and isn't, so you can identify your own Intuition and how it's working in your life right now
    • Why your Intuition can help you become a better entrepreneur - in what ways can it help you with decision-making at work?
    • What the 4 types of Intuition are and how to harness and tap into them today in your daily decisions
      • The Healer - physical
      • The Sage - mindful
      • The Visionary - creative
      • The Mystic - transcendental
    • It feels like we as humans are collectively waking up - she calls it the "Intuition Revolution" and her insight on what the next step is for all of us to rebuild and reimagine life as we know it
    • …and ultimately, she shares some ways we could utilize our Intuition for better self-care, so that we can choose the next right step to finish the year strong.

Kim is an absolute delight and I loved chatting with her. She believes that the truth is within you and that when you surrender to it, you begin to own your inner power. Bottomline, radical change can be found when you are true to yourself… that's where we gain deep insight.

And when we do that, we all rise together.

Q: Are you looking to make better decisions, personally and professionally? If yes, this one is for you.

  • B107: What's the history behind women's voting rights? - sneak preview of the Thinkable Podcast

What's the history behind women's voting rights? Today, we've got an extra special bonus episode to share with you! Last spring, my daughter Zoë had a special assignment in her ILA class to create a podcast episode on an important part of history… how and when did women get the right to vote?

If you listened to my last episode featuring Dr Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, all about how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy, I think this is a perfect addition to the conversation this week.

Today's bonus episode is a sneak preview of the Thinkable Podcast, revealing the history behind women's voting rights.

Zoë interviews a super smart woman named Audrey Joy Maker who's highly involved in getting people registered and empowered to vote in the state of Texas.

Ok, so yeah, I'm a bit biased… but I think at age 12, Zoë did a fantastic job!

And if you liked Zoë's podcast and want to hear more from her, let us know by tagging us @thesimplifiers on Instagram. I'll pass all the messages along to her and maybe, just maybe we'll get more episodes from the Thinkable Podcast in the near future. For now, keep things simple!

  • 182: How to transform culture + smash the patriarchy - with Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza

Friends, we're going there - let's talk about how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy. But first, let's define what the patriarchy is… it's a social system in which men hold primary power and they predominantly hold roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. This affects us all… including men, as well. So surely, there is something better.

My special guest today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza and they are simplifying how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy. Their work in the world is all about helping folks understand their role in all of this and show us the way to lean into deeper connections, greater understanding, and most importantly, get into relationship with others who are nothing like us.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza and they are simplifying how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

    • Their take on "cancel culture" - what it is and what it does to shunt productive conversations and true action towards positive change - also, how to create safe spaces for sometimes awkward conversations
    • "Diversity and inclusion" are such buzzwords these days… How can small business owners make positive change in their workplace and company culture that actually will move the needle forward
    • What two questions you need to ask yourself first when considering your own identity and the positive changes you want to see and create in the world next that will transform the culture around you
    • How to get into deeper relationships with people who are different than you and how to move past the fear of getting out of your comfort zone to (actually) do it
    • …and ultimately, learn how the patriarchy is affecting our society in ways that may NOT be seen on the surface… And how to begin to dismantle it, in big or small ways.

If you've been listening to The Simplifiers Podcast for awhile now, you know we don't shy away from hard conversations.

And this is not an easy topic to simplify, but one well worth having.

My hope always is to help us all spark new ideas, new questions to ponder around the work table, and to help create positive change in the world. Thank you for tuning in and being open to consider new viewpoints that might be challenging to your current beliefs. We learn together - we grow together… it's time to simplify!

  • 181: How to improve your digestion - with Tyler Mayoras

Today, we are talking all about how to improve your digestion. Are you feeling a bit bloated, and well, clogged up? Aha, this one is for you!

My special guest today is Cool Beans co-founder Tyler Mayoras and he's simplifying how to improve your digestion. There's nothing worse than having tummy aches and feeling like your body isn't working right. Tyler believes that with a few simple shifts in what you eat, all of this could improve fairly quickly.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Tyler Mayoras and he's simplifying how to improve your digestion.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

    • Why focusing on your gut health and digestion is so (darn) important these days for whole body health and wellness
    • What the big secret is behind beans as a superfood… and how to incorporate more beans into your meals, in a simple way
    • How to have more food diversity in what you eat weekly and why so many people are going plant-based nowadays
    • With new food innovation these days, there seem to be more plant-based choices in our grocery stores than ever before. How to avoid the "vegan junk food" craze and make better choices when grocery shopping
    • …and ultimately, I asked him about his take on "The Carnivore Diet" (aka. only eating meat) that seems to be the latest fad and is it good for your body or not?

If you've been contemplating making a shift towards a plant-based diet or going vegetarian, you'll definitely enjoy this conversation. And it might start small like doing "Meatless Monday" or taking the time to read the labels when you shop for groceries. Remember, you're looking for items made from whole food, minimally processed ingredients. Less packaging and added chemicals/preservatives, more plants is best. You'll find your brain fog disappears, the bloating melts away, and your skin is clearer. Yes, yes, and YES!

  • 180: How to listen to your body - with Irene Lyon (PART TWO)

Last week, we talked about how to listen to your body… why when we focus on our nervous system first, true transformational healing can actually occur, in more ways than one.

And it was such a powerful conversation, I decided to split it into two parts so we had time to simmer on it all. Since part one focused on the what and the why… this week, we are talking all about the HOW.

My special guest today is (once again) nervous system specialist Irene Lyon and she's simplifying how to listen to your body.

Remember, when you take the time to listen to your body and give it what it needs to thrive, you unlock your most remarkable self.

If you've experienced any of the following:

    • digestive and immune system troubles
    • chronic pains and illnesses
    • habits and patterns that drive you (and the people in your life) crazy
    • fatigue and brain fog
    • depression, anxiety and stress
    • or any mental roadblocks, fears and resistance that paralyze you from doing what you know (deep down) that you're meant to do…

Irene shows us that these are a few of the symptoms of a sick nervous system. And it's no way to live - it's not sustainable. There is a better way and a few of the perks of having a healthy nervous system include:

    • better sleep at night
    • boosted immunity
    • elevated energy levels
    • regulated gut health
    • immediate stress relief and deeper emotional intelligence.

So let's dive back into this conversation with Irene Lyon as she simplifies it even further.

Grab your journal and pen… go visit the bathroom (your bladder will thank you) and let's get back into this conversation to spark positive change.

Q: Are you ready to (truly) listen to your body? If yes, this one is for you.

  • 179: How to listen to your body - with Irene Lyon (PART ONE)

I have one simple question for you today… do you know how to listen to your body, so you can give yourself what you really need in this moment? For many of us, it isn't a simple answer in response. Whether it's adrenal fatigue, stress, and overwhelm that fogs our ability to make wise choices or something even worse like residual trauma bubbling under the surface, maybe it's time to get back to the basics, once again.

My special guest today is nervous system specialist Irene Lyon and she's simplifying how to listen to your body. As a Somatic Experiencing (SE) Practitioner, she helps people work through their anger, depression, and better tap into their life force energy. As she puts it, "when you tune up your nervous system, you rev up your entire life." This is the secret to becoming your own medicine.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Irene Lyon and she's simplifying how to listen to your body.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

    • Why it's important to focus on regulating your nervous system first and what the warning signs are when something isn't right inside your body
    • A few exercises to try that will help you better listen to your body and stabilize your nervous system when you're stressed
    • What "survival stress" is and how there is a better way to approach our challenges in work and in life, instead of burning out.

While this seems like a simple topic to simplify, I quickly realized there's really so much more to it. Therefore, I've broken this conversation up into two parts, so we can marinate over it all for the next two weeks together.

I want you to pause this episode whenever you like, so you can try out the suggestions that Irene has for us all. Stop the busy-ness and truly listen to your body. What is she trying to tell you right now? What needs to slow down?

And what do you need to let go of as a healing release?

Remember, whatever you are juggling with right now, you are not alone. I'm here with you, (if nothing else) in spirit. So, I hope that today's conversation will be a balm for your heart and open up something new and beautiful.

Q: Are you ready to (truly) listen to your body? If yes, this one is for you.

  • 178: How to harness your inner power - with Wendy C. Williams

Today, we are talking all about how to harness your inner power - what it is, how to tap into it and how it'll help you gain more confidence no matter what situation you are in. And I mean, really… who doesn't want more of that, right??!

My special guest today is leadership coach Wendy C. Williams and she's simplifying how to harness your inner power. She advises businesses all around the world, training leaders to tap into their own source of personal power. Through this practice of understanding that "everything is energy" - her clients have gained confidence, learn how to show up with authenticity and as a result, they build and lead highly productive teams.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Wendy C. Williams and she's simplifying how to harness your inner power.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

    • How she defines what "inner power" is and is NOT - she busts the misconceptions some have about power and goes much deeper than surface level
      • spoiler alert: authentic power is not about dominating others… it's time to deprogram the patriarchy, friends!
    • What she means by "acquiring energy eyes" in order to read the room and also read yourself, energetically and how you show up in a space
    • One super simple, practical way you can harness your inner power when you are about to do something big and scary in your work, such as a big pitch meeting or having a tough conversation
    • …and ultimately, what the difference is between your ego and your soul and how to communicate between the two for greater alignment and a foundation of inner strength.

This conversation was such a delight! And about halfway into it, she led me through an exercise where I needed to get a bit vulnerable and share a question I've had on my heart for a while now to gain deeper clarity in my own work trajectory…

I decided to leave this bit in because well, we're all human and I hope seeing a little bit behind my "Wizard of Oz" curtain was of value to you, especially if you're contemplating the same. Friends, we learn together and so, if you're here now, it means you and I were put together in perfect, Divine timing. So, I hope this episode provides a fresh perspective for you, especially if you've been feeling a little stuck lately or have lost your mojo somewhere along the way.

  • 177: How to make BIG Happy Money - with Serena Hicks

If you could make BIG Happy Money this week by intentionally creating a few simple shifts in your mindset, would you give it a go? Well, have I got a treat for you!

My special guest today is visibility coach Serena Hicks and she's simplifying how to make BIG Happy Money. She believes that you determine the energy in your world… and when you do, the world reflects it back to you. So, if that were the case, it's a matter of being open to receiving BIG Happy Money, carving out time to refine your pricing model and having the courage to step up into your new, expansive self. It's all waiting for you right now, it's yours for the taking.

    Here's how.

My special guest today is Serena Hicks and she's simplifying how to make BIG Happy Money.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

    • How she defines "BIG Happy Money" and where the concept originated for her on her own entrepreneurial journey
    • The biggest lessons she learned from her past business ventures and money blunders, including the "lobster analogy"
    • What the key is to proper pricing, so you can create space for BIG Happy Money to flow to you
    • Her top 3 tips for converting more prospects into paying clients on the discovery call
      • take time to connect
      • trust 2 things
      • have absolute clarity and confidence that you can help them
    • Why she believes you shouldn't discount your products/services - what that does energetically to you, your client, and your brand, in the long run
    • …and ultimately, how BIG Happy Money can simplify everything in your life, in more ways than one.

One thing you'll realize when you hear Serena speak is that it's NOT about the money. It never is.

It's actually all about the story underneath your ISH that is affecting your day-to-day decision making and keeping you stuck. (And hey, for the record, I do it too, at times!)

Serena shows us how to (really) show up, do the inner work and as she says, "play full out." Not in a hustle and grind kind of way… but rather, where you show up and claim your place in the world, doing the work you love. Now THAT'S a life worth living.
