I know that most of you guys run your own business, which means you are your own boss. But do you know how to take a day off from work without guilt?
When you work for yourself, there's no need to concoct some crappy excuse about how sick and contagious you are. Nor do you need to leave some sob story (cough, cough) awkward voicemail with your manager.
You call the shots, you get to decide. And that (I find) is super tricky, isn't it? When the buck stops with you, it's a LOT harder to jump off the hamster wheel when you're sick or when you need a little rest.
We tend to go, go, GO until the moment of exhaustion and then, it's too late. We're worn out, flattened, and exhausted, which means it'll likely take us LONGER to recover and get back to center. Not a win/win situation.
Earlier this week, I spoke with Sinead Quinn all about how to parent a child with special needs. And one thing I took away from that conversation is the importance of taking good care of yourself… FIRST. Not 5th on the list or 8th, but actually putting yourself at the very TOP of your priorities and to-do's.
So, here's what is working for me when I know I need to take a day off from work and how to squash that guilt that likes to creep in. You have to give yourself these 3 things:
1. Permission
2. Grace
3. Space
You can do this, I believe in you.

If you're a parent of a special needs child, can we take a moment to acknowledge you? Right here, right now… I want to shower you with love, strength and patience. And all things nourishing to replenish your spirit. Parenting is a LOT… and then you add in any of the four major types of special needs children, which includes physical, developmental, behavioral/emotional, and/or sensory impaired into the mix… well, it's likely your household is on high alert and in high stress mode, 24/7.
But what about the parent? How do you take better care of yourself, so that you can be the best for your kids?
My special guest today is a wellness coach for special needs moms. She's also a mom of three young kids, one of which has Down Syndrome with Severe Speech Apraxia). She shares her real-world insight and we focus on simple, practical ways to nourish yourself through genuine self-care. I promise it won't require a whole lot of effort, time or money. Keeping it simple.

If you've got a strained back, a bad knee, or an unsettled tummy more times than not these days, you could feel a few inches better by learning how to listen to your body.
Earlier this week, I spoke to Courtney Townley all about how to become healthier. I appreciated hearing about her four key practices that help transform people's health. She breaks it down like this…
And then, rinse, repeat over and over and over again. Not striving for perfection, but gently giving yourself grace as you #DoTheThing.
So, with this framework in mind, here are three ways to get started this week...

What if the whole self-care and self-help movement has got it completely wrong? Rather than seeking the 'magic pill' solution from outside, what if the path to becoming healthier actually starts from within?
My special guest today simplifies how to mend the broken relationship with your body, and much more. She believes that once you slow down, listen to your own body, and cultivate a deeper practice of self-discipline and self-respect, you'll find what you're seeking.

In this episode, you will learn:If you've got a 'Negative Nancy' voice in your head that's saying 'I'm totally past my prime,' this episode is for you! Courtney believes, "You are in your prime when you decide to be in your prime. Your best years are ready for the taking, but you've got to grab 'em."
I hope today's conversation helps you to end the war you might be having with food, exercise and dieting… and realize that the best is yet to come!

Do you know how to set life goals with simplicity? My conversation with Danielle LaPorte earlier this week really stirred something new in me, and I want to share it with you.
Raise your hand if you're at a crossroads in your life right now. It may look like one of these scenarios:
None of that feels good, eh?
Not one bit.
So how do we flip the script?
How do we set life goals with simplicity? If the aim is to bring about deep contentment and get your light shining bright once again, I think it boils down to these three things:
1. Tap into your 'Inner Senior' wisdom 2. 'Witness your weather'3. Less is more when setting life goalsThe beauty of life, is that you get to choose. You always have a choice, even when things seem particularly dim or dark.
It will never be perfect, and it most certainly will be messy. If you anchor this belief down first, you'll build in the grace you'll need to get to where you want to go.
You can do this, I believe in you.

No shame... most people feel nervous whether they're faced with the daunting task of speaking up in the boardroom, or getting on-stage in front of 300 people. (There is no difference!)
Public speaking can be especially scary if you've been 'volun-TOLD' to do it, a la 'Oh, could you just say a few words?' and you've not prepared anything at all. Who enjoys that?? Very few people.
Earlier this week, I spoke with Koya Webb all about how to overcome obstacles in your life, and learn how to face your fears. And one thing I started to realize when we were chatting was how much power we (okay, let's be real… I) was giving the things I was most afraid of doing in my life.
In my mind, to overcome your fear of public speaking, you need to practice (with a whole lotta repetition) these three core things:
Let's simplify that…
You can do this, I believe in you.
