From the drought-ridden pools of California, to the ivy-curtains of Costa Rica, Jules De Balincourt’s premiere collection with THE SKATEROOM comprises four limited, hand-signed editions and one unique, original artwork on skateboard art pieces. Running alongside the famed Brussels Gallery Weekend, this event features a bespoke scenography and the presence of the artist himself. See if you can spot him. He’s around here somewhere. The collection comprises four limited edition, hand-signed artworks on skateboards: Ex Pats Ticos & Gringos, New Arrivals, Idol Hands and Looking For An Enlightened Cowboy. These editions come in the form of a pentaptych, two triptych and solo respectively. Alongside this, Jules De Balincourt releases an original, never before seen artwork, painted directly onto a skateboard. This unique piece is available to purchase at the event, until it’s not.

On episode 4, we speak with Dr. Neftalie Williams, a sociologist and USC Provost’s Post-Doctoral Scholar at the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, and Yale Schwarzman Center Visiting Fellow in Race, Culture & Community. He investigates global issues of race, diversity, identity, and youth empowerment, using the lens of action sports culture. Williams holds a Ph.D. from the University of Waikato and has upcoming books with Artisan Books and UC Press focused on skateboarding culture. He is also the first ‘Ambassador of Skateboarding,’ and envoy for the US Department of State, he introduced the concept of skateboarding as a tool for cultural diplomacy in both theory and practice.
