A new movie that embodies both horror and romance in one film and it’s one that caught MJ and Marva by surprise, Heart Eyes. This movie had wild coverage on social media and the hype for the movie was unreal. 

It seems like throughout the last few years, the Heart Eye Killer has tormented couples on Valentine’s Day on the East side of the nation. This year, they make it their way to Seattle of all places and start their killing spree there. No couple is safe with this killer on the loose, official or not!

Who says the month of love can’t be filled with horror too? Marva and MJ take on a cult classic, My Bloody Valentine (1981). What seems to be a small, rural miner town that has nothing going on quickly changes to a town that has the streets running with blood. 

Every one of the older residents is haunted by a miner gone mad, Harry Warden. He is rumored to roam the streets on Valentine’s Day, making sure no one celebrates the holiday. This town makes the mistake of starting up the celebration once more, and is met with nothing but boxes filled with actual human hearts!

A timeless classic gets retold, with Robert Egger’s Nosferatu. It’s a gothic horror movie about a young woman who has a psychic connection to what we’d call a vampire.

She struggles to make sense of the connection the two share and the effects it has on her— along with those around her. We watch as their story unfold in a very unsettling way and the retelling of the film had so many mixed reviews that MJ and I had to go and watch it for ourselves!

A movie about one of the very few things Marva truly dislikes...and it’s one of the wildest ones yet.

What starts off as an innocent gesture for a kids birthday party ends up being the biggest mistake a father can make for his entire family. Clown (2014) does a good job of explaining the history of clowns and why some of you might not be a big fan of the figures.

MJ started the discussion about a franchise that the Slashers N Sync duo have come to love—Hatchet. Marvalous takes on the final movie in the original trilogy and gives her thoughts of the goodbye movie to Crowley. What started off as a fun Mardi Gras experience for a group of college kids ended up being the kickstart to a bloody good franchise that resulted into many dying and many believing in ghost stories for real (at least in the movies).

Adam Green does a wonderful job of making true horror fans love what plays out on the screen and those who aren’t as deep into horror find their passion and fear of it too. From the practical effects being more gore-y than ever, to more intricate and complex relationships between the heroin and the antagonist coming into play. Danielle Harris once again takes on her role as Marybeth and learns how she can be the one to really make sure Crowley is laid to rest.

Tune into this weeks episode and learn about how Crowley’s story comes to an end—at least for now—and how Green’s movie created a fanbase for a franchise that was honestly ahead of its time.

What starts off as a fun night out between father and daughter turns into a heart-racing catch-me-if-you-can styled movie that leaves the heart of the masses pounding with anticipation of either getting caught or getting away with it. M. Night Shyamalan debuted his film earlier this year called Trap, and it had the masses talking. People seemed to have either loved the movie or they would walk out with very hard critiques. 

Marvalous takes the time to watch the movie to determine which side of the coin we sit with and whether the movie lived up to the hype it was trying to have. Josh Hartnett and many other known starts are featured in this thriller of a movie, and carry the movie to new heights.

Horror fanatics know that horror movies and the genre itself go through many changes, but there was one major change—a renaissance if you will—that took the horror community by storm, and it was Elevated Horror. Jordan Peele and Ari Aster set in motion a change that we haven’t seen in years. Their debut movies were so iconic that the horror genre itself got a revamp, whether the movies followed all the Elevated Horror guidelines or not. 

Another thing that the directors seemed to have was a rivalry, or at least a perceived rivalry when it came to the release of their media.
