This case is a reminder that policing is complex, dangerous, and deeply human. Mistakes in tactics lead to tragedies. Poor training leads to tragedies. Panic leads to tragedies.
But understanding the law — Graham and Garner — helps us cut through the noise and see the real issues.
If we want fewer of these incidents, we need:
• Better training
• Better leadership
• Better tactics
• And a culture that values life on both sides of the badge
