This week’s forced resignation of Essendon Football Club’s newly appointed CEO, Andrew Thorburn, due to his Christian beliefs and church involvement, declares that Christian views on marriage and human rights for the unborn will not be tolerated by the club.

Essendon’s president, David Barham, made it clear that traditional Christian views, accepted by millions of everyday Australians, are contrary to the club’s values.

The club promotes itself as safe, inclusive, tolerant, diverse and welcoming. But their so-called tolerance and diversity are only extended to those who know better than to question the latest woke manifesto regarding sexuality and abortion.

Stand up for people of faith now by letting the Essendon Football Club know that their value system does not align with fair-minded Australians. Having different opinions on sexuality or life is not hatred or bigotry.

If you are standing for Biblical truth, then you are going to feel pushback, maybe you will be harassed, abused or even worse.

Just remember there is only one audience you really need to concern yourself with, and that is God.

Victorian opposition leader calls Andrew Thorburn’s resignation as Essendon CEO ‘ridiculous’

Victoria’s opposition leader, Matthew Guy, has described Andrew Thorburn’s resignation as Essendon chief executive over links to a church condemning homosexuality and abortion as “ridiculous”.

The football club on Tuesday said Thorburn felt he could not serve in both roles and had offered his resignation, despite not holding the same personal views as his church.

Thorburn was appointed to the role on Monday but resigned on Tuesday afternoon after sermons by the City on a Hill church, of which he is chairman, were made public.

The sermons likened abortion to a concentration camp and included claims that “practising homosexuality is a sin” – views which the premier, Daniel Andrews, said were “absolutely appalling”.

On Wednesday, the opposition leader criticised the premier for weighing in to the debate, which he said encroached too far into private religious views.

“What are we now banning people from going to church, banning people from going to a synagogue, banning people from going to a mosque? Where have we got? This is ridiculous,” Guy told 3AW radio.

Premier Daniel Andrews says “I’ve had a longstanding view that termination services are a private matter between a woman and her doctor and I will speak out against people who seek to intrude on that.

“What’s more, when it comes to rampant homophobia, when I lead the Pride march every year … I do that with a sense of genuine concern and support and commitment to make sure every LGBTIQ+ Victorian is safe, respected and valued.”

Andrews said same-sex-attracted young people were more likely to take their own lives or self-harm than the broader Victorian community.

‘I have different views’: Essendon chief opens up on controversial church

Essendon chief executive Andrew Thorburn admits the church of which he is chairman has views which are offensive and upsetting to some, but insists his business record shows he is welcoming and endorses diversity.

Thorburn has taken charge of the Bombers at the end of a tumultuous season for the club, but his appointment has also generated unwanted headlines, primarily because of his involvement with  The City on a Hill church movement.

The former NAB chief executive plays a key role in a church which, in a sermon, likens abortion to a concentration camp, and says practising homosexuality is a sin.

Thorburn’s personal beliefs could upset the Bombers’ AFLW side, which preaches diversity and inclusiveness, as well as the Purple Bombers, the club’s official diversity and inclusion supporter group. The Purple Bombers were contacted for comment.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, a Bombers supporter, had a strong response when asked on Tuesday about the views expressed by Thorburn’s church, but acknowledged the CEO’s appointment was a matter for the club’s board.

“All of you know my views on these things. Those sort of attitudes are simply wrong, and to dress that up as anything other than bigotry is just obviously false.

Christianity is inherently offensive. It teaches that people are born broken and can’t fix themselves, and that submission to God is the only solution. It teaches that the intelligent, the wealthy, the powerful, and the influential aren’t necessarily better off than anybody else. It teaches that our best efforts to do good on our own are all but wasted. It teaches that allegiance to God is more important than allegiance to your family…and that, if you have to choose, you should choose God. It teaches that some actions are wrong, even if they feel good. It teaches that the things that we brag about in our selfishness and immaturity are less important than the things that nobody sees, and get no earthly reward.

ISRAEL TO SUPPLY NATURAL GAS TO EUROPE AND ITS CONNECTION TO A BLESSING FROM DEUTERONOMY

Today, Israel’s gas reserves are so rich that they can supply not only Israel, but Europe as well. And that’s precisely what happened on Wednesday when Israel, and the European Union signed a natural gas agreement. The agreement was forged in Cairo as Egypt as the gas will flow via Egypt’s pipelines. Signing this trilateral agreement is Europe’s solution for replacing the Russian gas imports it has relied on for decades.

Western Europe is trying to distance itself from Russia including economic boycotts. This phenomenon provided Israel with a rare opportunity to provide natural gas once provided by the Kremlin.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission said in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem on Tuesday: “With the beginning of this war and the attempt of Russia to blackmail us through energy, by deliberately cutting off the energy supplies, we decided to cut off and to get rid of the dependency on Russian fossil fuels, and to move away from Russia and diversify to trustworthy suppliers,” adding that “It is an outstanding step bringing our energy cooperation to the next level.”

“This is a tremendous moment in which little Israel becomes a significant player,” Israeli Energy Minister Karin Elharrar said Wednesday in a statement.

Leaked email reveals Greens staffer ‘scared and in shock’ after Lidia Thorpe’s ‘truly awful’ outburst

Bandt concedes he should have acknowledged complaint about Thorpe

Greens senator Lidia Thorpe’s former chief of staff says he was scared and appalled by her outburst in a meeting with two Indigenous community leaders at Parliament House last year, describing her behaviour among the most unprofessional conduct he has ever witnessed.

The claims by Thorpe’s ex-top adviser reinforce the account of the meeting by Aboriginal elder Aunty Geraldine Atkinson, aged in her 70s, who has previously alleged the tirade of abuse levelled at her by the senator distressed her so much that she sought medical attention from the parliamentary nurse.

Some may think I'm being a bit harsh in my opinion of Lidia Thorpe, however I stand by it. Lidia Thorpe is only a 'First Nations' person when it suits her. If it makes her look good in front of her colleagues, or if it puts her in front of the TV cameras then, she is a 'proud indigenous person'. When in private she just behaves like a spoilt little brat who would not understand the first thing about the people she claims to represent. Thorpe should not be a Senator and her behaviour brings all of Australia, and especially First Nations people into disrepute.

Leaks on Russian gas pipelines raise concerns about sabotage as disturbance seen from the sky

The extent of the damage means the Nord Stream pipelines are unlikely to be able to carry any gas to Europe this winter even if there was political will to bring them online, analysts at the Eurasia Group said.

Asked if the leaks may have been caused by sabotage, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said "no version could be excluded".

"This is an unprecedented situation that requires an urgent investigation. We are extremely worried by this news," he said in a conference call with reporters. (How many times did he practise saying that in the mirror to keep a straight face?)

Anders Puck Nielsen, a researcher with the Centre for Maritime Operations at the Royal Danish Defence College, said the timing of the leaks was "conspicuous" given the ceremony for the Baltic Pipe. He said perhaps someone sought "to send a signal that something could happen to the Norwegian gas".

"The arrow points in the direction of Russia," Puck Nielsen said.

The Biden administration has launched its war on pro-lifers

“I met with many of you in my office at the White House,” Vice President Kamala Harris told Democratic state attorneys general at a conference on Thursday. “And we discussed the innovative strategies that you have used to defend women's reproductive freedom.”

What are those “innovative strategies?” They seem to include the persecution of abortionists' competition. The very first example Harris gave was: “You are taking on, rightly, the crisis pregnancy centers.”

The vice president, who has said she approaches abortion policy like “a prosecutor,” is siccing state attorneys general on the nonprofit organizations that serve mothers in crisis pregnancies because those nonprofit organizations don’t abort the babies that come through their doors. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has said she wants crisis pregnancy centers "shut down."

No, the vaccines never worked all that well against severe Covid

Associations of BMI with COVID-19 vaccine uptake, vaccine effectiveness, and risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes after vaccination in England: a population-based cohort study

A peer-reviewed British study covering 9.1 million people and almost 600,000 Covid infections in 2021 shows vaccine advocates badly overstated the effectiveness of the shots even last year, at the peak of their effectiveness.

By mid-2021, fully vaccinated people had a higher risk of being infected with Covid, the study shows. They had only about 65 percent protection against hospitalization and death - after accounting for age, sex, and other risk factors.

It should now be obvious the mRNA Covid jabs are not really vaccines at all. They are temporary generators of anti-spike protein antibodies whose protection even against the original or Delta strains wanes within months.

This is just my opinion.

The WHO and Big Pharma have been carrying out one big experiment on the human population with the mRNA vaccines.
