Prime Minister Albanese says: It will only affect this group of people; a vast majority have nothing to be concerned about. 99.5% of people will not be affected, it will only affect just under 80 thousand people. 

The tax alone does not bother me, what I find concerning is the way Albo is telling the nation we don't have to be concerned because it's only this small group that will be affected. 

We can trust the Government because they are only going after the bad wealthy people. 

How dare they use the system legally.

Christian Lobby, deputy premier pushback over Pussay Poppins drag storytime event at Launceston Library

Tasmania's education minister is resisting calls to cancel a book reading by a drag queen at a state-run library, even as the state's deputy premier declared he "wouldn't be taking my children".

The Launceston Library is hosting Drag Storytime next Wednesday in celebration of TasPRIDE and World Pride 2023.

The event, aimed at two- to five-year-olds, is free and has already sold out.

It has been promoted as a chance for toddlers to "frock up, dress up and throw on a tiara" with Tasmanian drag performer Pussay Poppins.

Oops, a Study Says the New COVID Pill Is Actually Mutating the Virus

Instead of stopping COVID-19, Merck’s Lagevrio drug may actually help mutate the virus, according to a new, non-peer reviewed study. Merck, meanwhile, denies the accuracy of the study.

Researchers from the U.S. and the U.K., including the Francis Crick Institute and Imperial College London say that the drug’s purpose of mutating the COVID genome to restrict the virus from spreading within a patient may create more mutations of the virus that can then pass to other people.

SA Police critical of protesters at council meetings diverting officers from fighting crime

Last year, the Adelaide City Council voted unanimously not to include facial recognition technology in new security cameras being installed across the CBD. The council had written to SA Police asking if they could delay using facial recognition technology if it was installed in city cameras until safeguards measures were in place, but police indicated they would likely still use the technology.

 Attorney-General Kyam Maher told parliament in July that CCTV vision collected by one agency could not be used for another purpose "unless the agency has reason to suspect that unlawful activity has been, is being or may be engaged in".  

Commissioner Stevens on Wednesday said there was no facial recognition in use in council CCTV networks that alert police if a person appears on CCTV on the street but they can put images through their system to check them against a database of faces. "Their whole idea of a Big Brother thing is really quite ridiculous," Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge told ABC Radio "It's a program to increase your safety and that includes the ability for US to know what your needs are, and that's not invading your privacy with anything at all."

Alice Springs town meeting ‘disrupted’ by ‘progressive individuals’ hurling abuse

Country Liberal Party Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says members of the Alice Springs community are “willing to bring a class action” against the Northern Territory government after a large town meeting.

“I think this will be the beginning of probably many more possible meetings to come,” Ms Nampijinpa Price told Sky News host James Morrow.

“I know there are a lot residents that felt like it should’ve gone longer, but it was disrupted by a small group of progressive individuals.

“How dare they bring that nonsense to effectively what is a community meeting of voices who are wanting to be heard.”
