The final episode. For now. I reckon I’ll be back, don’t you?

Running an online biz is fraught with difficulties and this can be a rude shock when we come to it with unrealistic expectations. In this final episode, I talk about the pitfalls and the joys of running your own biz, whether it’s online or in the arts.

For the sake of our mental health and to thrive in this topsy turvy space, we must manage our expectations and become aware of the background (subconscious) narratives that are running our dog and pony show.

Are you seeking salvation via your biz? Do you think that life will magically fall into place once your business is ‘on track’? You’re not alone if these myths are informing the way you think and behave.

We need to question these assumptions and keep them in check — not to impede our growth but to strengthen our understanding of what’s going on and to help us hold steady and build a sturdy foundation for our biz and our future.

So, dear listener. Follow your heart, take exceptional care of yourself, and always keep your wits about you!

I’m always looking for new and novel ways to coach people towards finishing what they started. At least something. One thing. Anything…

Part of this has been examining my own track record. I finish a lot of stuff. But theres also a TON of stuff shoved in drawers and folders, hidden under the metaphorical bed. Stuff I know I’ll never finish, no matter how good, noble or guilty my intentions.

I think a lot of it comes down to desire.

How badly do you want this thing? How badly do you want to finish it? How can you fan your own desire when it’s sputtering like a tallow candle?

Quick Chat #21 from the Slow Coach Project.

I launched my new e-course, yesterday, and promptly fell into Post Launch Blues. Or PLB, as Himself calls it. This is common state, much like the day after the wedding — when your frock is rumpled, your hair’s a mess and you wonder if it was all worth it!

I’ve found that gentle is best when it comes to PLB. Just roll with it and allow it to run its course without expecting too much of yourself or making any radical decision while in that headspace. It’s also important to acknowledge yourself, give yourself a pat on the back. You’ve done a BIG, BOLD thing, in getting an e-course off the ground, and you deserve congratulations and self-compassion.

Yesterday was also Samhain (pronounced, sah-win), my favourite sabbat. I spent a lot of time constructing my altar and just sitting with the present moment—that delicious moment when the veil is thin, and we sense our dearly departed more closely.

It was a big day, a quiet day, a day of many shades.

I’m launching my new e-course this weekend. The cart opens on Sunday.

If you’re launching an e-course any time soon, it’s worth knowing that there is a launch pattern. That is, launches tend to follow the same trajectory regardless of your niche, regardless of your price.

It goes like this:

Cart opens, there’s a flurry of sales. The follow week, barely any sales. Cart closes, another flurry of sales.

Whether your launch goes for one week or three, the pattern is always the same. It simply reflects human nature. If you’re an author, it’s like a narrative arc, flipped! Which is actually a smile shape so there you go.

Never lose heart if (and when) your launch slumps in the middle. Things will pick up at the end.

‘Last minute’ is how most people roll. Everywhere. In every niche.

Before we create or sell our first e-course we often grapple with imposter syndrome. Am I qualified enough? Do I know enough? Am I good enough. Am I… enough?

One way to ease your fears around this is to teach your course (or a condensed version of it) IRL before taking it online. This has countless benefits to you and to your clients and will really help calm the butterflies, increase your confidence and alert you to what needs tweaking or improving. It’s a powerful way of getting social proof and, when it comes to going online with your offer, it has the added benefit of helping you sell from a place of empowerment...

I’ve been working on a new offer for my coaching clients. I’m super passionate about this project, it’s so different from anything I’ve ever done. I’ve mocked it up (along with some pretty picture as placeholders) and sent it to my biz coach this morning. I cannot wait to get her feedback (the good the bad the ugly). It’s like getting a manuscript assessment or a copyedit from your editor.

Also, today I chose to work in flow rather than doing what I ‘should’ do. Here’s how that happened for me. It’s all about slowing down, really…

Today I’m having a Giraffe Day. It’s so important that we take time out to step back and look at the big picture of our biz and our life. Sometimes, It’s the only way to get clarity, see the way forward and to come up with ideas, plans and solutions.

Plus, when we have a Giraffe Day we can also make time to sit quietly and channel. Tap into the universal mind for inspiration, support and a broader perspective. Who would have thought business could be so much rich and so much fun! It’s the feminine paradigm, that’s what it is. ;-)

Alot of businesswomen have the dream of bringing home their husband or wife. In other words, they’d like to earn enough money in their online biz so their partner can ‘retire’ from corporate. This is such a fantastic goal (in my humble opinion) and one I wholeheartedly share. My partner and I are moving incrementally towards achieving this and it’s coming together nicely for us.
