  • 059 – Preparing for the Unexpected
In today’s solo episode, I chat about some of the crazy, unexpected things that have come up in the house we have moved out of and in the RV that we moved in to this week. This process has made my head spin, but reinforced the need to be prepared for the unexpected expenses that come up at home… whatever home looks like for you!

  • 058 – How to be Chronically Positive, w/ Jen Hardy
“The longer you live, the sooner you’re going to die. It only gets scarier the longer you wait to discuss it.”
In this emotional episode, I chat with Jen Hardy, author of the book, The Sick Mom’s Guide to Having Fun Again. Jen is chronically ill and is a self-described “collector of eclectic diseases and mystifier of physicians.”  She’s a mother of 7 children ranging in age from 6-28, and the wife of a retired Army soldier. Jen has had a meandering trip through the American healthcare industry that will boggle the mind and show the systemic problem that this system has inherent in its bias towards fixing problems rather than maintaining health and promoting well-being for patients.
This episode was dark at times, and a very rewarding conversation.  I hope you enjoy it, and do please give Jen’s blog, The Chronically Positive Mom, a read as well. I appreciate you for listening.  Thank you!

  • 057 – Meditation Made Easy(er)
“Isn’t it ironic that we are totally overwhelmed by the options for meditating today?”
In today’s show, I talk about the benefits I’ve seen to meditating regularly, and a few of the available options for doing so that I (and my toddler!) have tried.  Good, bad, none really ugly.  Thanks for listening!

  • 056 – Finding Your Happiness, w/ Jacqui Letran
“I see people needing to remember who they are and how to access their inner truth.”
    – Jacqui Letran
Today’s guest is Jacqui Letran, a Mindset Mentor specializing in helping teens and young adults take control of their lives by taking control of their minds. She is the author of three books that you can find on Amazon:

  • 055 – Tolstoy to the TPS Report, READ IT!
“Read what you’ll read, not what you should read.”
In this episode of the show, I talk about a few quick ways to start developing a reading habit. The act of reading has tremendous benefits for brain development (young people) and brain health (old people), not to mention the behavior pattern of simply being curious and learning about things by seeking information through reading.
Thanks for listening to the show! I appreciate you!

  • 054 – Question Your Own Beliefs, w/ Jon Kirsch
In this episode of the show, Jason chats with a good friend, Jon Kirsch. Jon is a librarian in South Carolina with both strong and reasoned political leanings; two traits sadly rarely found in combination in modern times on the political landscape. Jason met Jon about seven years ago as a friend of a friend of his new girlfriend (now wife, Carrie) at a New Years Eve party which manifested in a political discussion that spanned nearly six hours in the middle of a party (those party animals!)
Jon recently moved from the public library system to a private college library system, exposing him to an inside perspective of the recent political activist climate in our universities today. Jon and Jason discuss several of the cultural movements happening today, and some of the hypocrisy associated with them… So, you know, no controversy in this one at all!
As a side note for those of you that have listened to the show for a while, Jon is the person that connecting with with both Gail McAbee and Nate Butkus, former guests of the show on episodes 23 and 30, respectively. Check out those shows as well! Gail is hilarious, and Nate is annoyingly impressive for a 7 YEAR OLD!
    Thanks for listening!

  • 053 – Let’s Talk About Death, Baby!
In this short solo show, Jason talks about death. Specifically TALKING about death with the people in your life. Both them and you.  Hate to break it to you, but you’re going to die. Statistically, maybe this afternoon. Are you squared away?  Mentally, financially, logistically… What would happen to your spouse, your parents, your kids, and most importantly YOU STUFF (see sarcasm on page 31) when you die?
We hate talking about it, but we need to! Today is just a bit of a wake up call on this, as well and some strategies I’ve used to break the ice and talk about this in a way that’s not terrifying or daunting in any way… within reason.
Thanks for listening! I appreciate you.

  • 052 – Taking Radical Responsibility For Your Actions, w/ Lisa Carpenter
In today’s show, Jason chats with Lisa Carpenter, a health and wellness coach with a focus on her clients’ behavior patterns and how to interrupt the patterns that are causing the problems they are having, and helping them make peace with food in their bodies. She’s also the author of Let’s E.A.T!: Break the Addictive Cycle of Dieting, Lose Weight and Make Peace with Food and Your Body…For Life.
Lisa is a certified personal trainer that’s transformed from a dorito chip eating, cigarette smoking woman to having the body of her dreams and now works with others to achieve the same goal of a massive change in body composition.
This was a fun conversation! Lisa is hilarious and a master at blunt-force-trauma conversations, a favorite style of the humble host of this show!
You can find Lisa on her website, and also in her Facebook page.

I also talk about a few ways that you can get into it if you want, one way with little to no cash outlay.
