Hi authors,
Before 2021, all I knew was working hard.
This was the paradigm my Asian parents lived in and I learned as a kid.
Work hard, make money, and rest once you’ve earned it.
It was the fastest way to the most depressed I’d ever been.
In 2021, I learned a new way to see the world.
It’s helped me have more fun, travel the world, and make more money with more ease.
It wasn’t easy.
It required me to rewire my entire brain.
But when I finally learned these 3 Kabbalah Secrets to Make Money with Ease, life has felt happier, more fun, and more rewarding.
In this episode, you will discover:
* What I’m teaching my kids about money (that helped me release the 9-5 grind and help me get paid to be myself)
* Why you want to be a successful businessperson, but struggle to do it with ease
* What the news wants you to believe about money (that Mother Teresa never did)
* How you can do more good, have more fun, and do it more easily, all without compromising your values
The book referenced in today’s live is A Happy Pocket Full of Money (highly recommended!!)
If you are an author who wants to use your book to drive sales to your business with more ease, I am hosting a Substack Live on Oct 26 at 12 ET/9 PT called “How to Sell 10,000 Copies of Your Self-Published Nonfiction Book.”
📆 Monday 10/26
⏰ 12 ET/9 PT

See you there!

What if social media was the most fun you ever had?
What if it could help you have more fun, make more money, and do more of what you love?
Today’s Substack Live interview is with author brand strategist, Lauren Grace Flowerday, who helps authors get clear on who they are and how they want their audiences to feel on social media.
So that they can sell more books around the year, while enjoying more time offline.
In this episode, Lauren breaks down:
* How to start posting (especially if you want to stay an author, and not become a content creator)
* Getting over the fears, disappointments, and frustrations of being on social media (and the myths of having to be online all the time)
* What is worldbuilding, why it’s so fun, and how you can start creating obsessive fans like Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter
* Use the Internet to share encouragement and light, and become instantly recognizable, like Sara Blakely
Lauren is a genius when it comes to helping authors get out of their own head and into their reader’s hearts using social media.

Hey authors!
Today’s Substack Live is with my friend Mikaela Mathews — the book coach entrepreneurs call when they want to attract high-level buyers. 🤑
Mikaela has been helping entrepreneurs write bada*s books that get them seen and paid.
She uses a core theme you’ve heard here at SHB before: great books aren’t about something. Great books are for someone. 🔥
We talk about:
* Why it’s ok to write a book even if you don’t call yourself a writer — yet
* The 1 unsexy difference between a book that sits on bookshelves vs. ones that sell (and get you paid)
* Core communication tools to convey transformational messages (that use no words)
If you’re currently writing your book, or thinking about writing, this Substack Live is for you!
You can learn more about Mikaela and join her outlining workshop next Tuesday here:

He started drinking at age 10.
He never stopped — until it threatened everything he knew.
Tyler Wagner and his team at Authors Unite help his clients consistently hit the USA Today Bestseller charts.
Most of his authors are self-published.
He works 22 hours/week, plays tennis in his off time, and runs an 8-figure book marketing business.
And yet, as you know, there’s got to be more to this story than the surface.
It was my pleasure to host a book marketer I have looked up to for a long time on the Smokin’ Hot Books® Show, but we talk very little about actual book marketing.
We went real deep in this one, folks.
Human to human.
In this exclusive interview with Tyler Wagner, we explore:
* What happens after you move into the penthouse at the 4 Seasons?
* What happens after the butler delivers you a single napkin in his suit and tie?
* What happens after you get the diagnosis from the doctor that it’s either stop drinking or die?
This is a raw, intimate conversation about where we go and what we find within ourselves —
the whole philosophy behind the Marketing Alchemy philosophy of Smokin’ Hot Books® —
and what happens when we can no longer keep our truth buried within us.

Precision-led social media.
That’s what Emma and her team at Ninety Five Media focus on for their clients.
This year, 2 of their clients retired their husbands.
Not from chasing virality.
Not from focusing on follower count.
But from focusing on the things that matter:
Conversion metrics.
Tune into this episode to get Emma’s nuggets on how professional posters think (and steal their strategy! (I can’t wait to hire her and her team, tbh.)

I get it.
You’re publishing your book to give away copies.
You’ve heard it can help you close business — and it has.
For some, giving books away can close millions in deals and pack their pipeline for the next 3-4 years.
But here’s why selling your book will actually pay you more, more easily, for longer, than giving it away ever could. 👇🏽
A free book is a discounted book.
Discounts are not valued by the customer.
A sale creates a believer — someone with buy-in to your mission who becomes a repeat buyer and evangelizes for you.
There is a phenomenon in business called network effects.
Metcalfe’s Law says that with each book you sell, the number of conversations about your business (without you being in the room) grows exponentially.
Not linearly.
Exponentially.
100 books sold can spark 4,950 unique conversations about you, without you in the room.
10,000 books? 50 million.
Giving books away is the short way that becomes the long way.
Selling books is actually the short way.
The compounding way.
The “mommy is present with us for dinner” way.

Cheering you on.

What if your income was only as good as your questions?
This is a lesson I learned firsthand.
In school, questions are bad.
We’re taught that answers are better than questions.
In school, asking challenging questions get us in trouble.
That’s the “get-in-line-and-stay-in-line” mentality.
But as an entrepreneur, you have bigger dreams.
And the success of your dreams is determined by your capacity to ask bigger, more challenging questions of your prospects.
Today’s episode of The Smokin’ Hot Books® Show features John Ray, the consultant you call when it’s time to raise your prices.
Working with John has given me more confidence, more money, and more space to enjoy my life outside of work.

Hi Smokin’ Hot Fam,
Welcome to another edition of The Smokin’ Hot Books® Show.
Today is a special guest episode with Kory Kirby of Kory Kirby Books.
Kory is a talented publishing strategist, who helps experts turn the thoughts in their head into a product worthy of closing 6-figure deals.
Kory’s main focus with his clients is to think about books first as a product.
That means ensuring the book solves a big problem, from the manuscript, to the title, to the cover.
So that his clients have a product that commands their respect and attracts the right business.
Mentioned in the episode:
* Screenshots of Launch Wins & Pressed Social Proof

Hi business authors & leaders,
I’m baaaack!
After 2.5 weeks in Greece.
More on that to come.
Today I felt compelled to share something that’s been on my heart.
That I keep seeing pop up.
With clients, in TV, with you all.
It’s the fear of telling your story.
It’s so normal.
So how do you let go of that fear?
Many of you all wrote your book from a place of personal transformation.
But when it comes time to tell that story of what you had to overcome to get here, it gets hard.
Because those rock-bottom moments are difficult to revisit.
We’re ashamed of them.
Or afraid we’ll be judged.
It’s the most normal human experience in the whole world, and you’re not alone.
Check out today’s episode on Substack Live and The Smokin’ Hot Books® Show on how to release your fear of telling your story.
So you can reach more people, and impact more lives.
Once you do that, come back here to see how to combine your story with marketing strategy so that your story reaches your dream clients: https://smokin-hotbooks.com/authorsuccess
Rooting for you.
All love,
Renée
Hey business & nonfiction authors,
Today we have an interview with Peter S. Bergeron.
Not only is he a client at Smokin’ Hot Books®, but he also wrote his latest book, The Trapped Operator, from a place of deep personal experience.
The Trapped Operator is the guide for the small business owner that covers the topics EOS or E-myth haven’t touched on yet.
The one who started his or her business with big ambitions.
But has no idea where (or how) to get off the train.
Peter’s father started his family’s business when Peter was just 4 years old.
Immense tragedy followed, and before Peter knew it, he had to sell the family company.
He started wondering…
After 40-something odd years of success…why did it end so badly?
The Trapped Operator is the guidebook for solopreneurs, coaches, consultants, and small business owners who don’t realize that SOPs aren’t enough to preserve their legacy. I’ll be diving into it shortly myself.
Congrats to Peter for achieving #1 international bestseller status today!!
This is just the beginning.
* Grab your copy of the book (and 30-days of complimentary access to the 12 Fatal Issues premium community, a $79.99 value) at https://thetrappedoperator.com

Rooting for you.
