In today's final episode in the Invested Success Series, Nat and Ang chat with Gemma Bonham-Carter. Gemma is a Digital Product Strategist who has coached hundreds of students through launching and scaling their businesses with online courses, memberships, and digital downloads. This year alone, she has helped clients rake in a staggering $650,000+!
"Describe what a membership is." Gemma says a membership is comparable to a subscription based service such as Netflix. That subscription based model is used in an online capacity to teach. It's a tool to deliver content and serve your audience on a month to month basis.
"What value can a membership bring?" Gemma details that the value you receive in a membership compared to a traditional online course is the ongoing support and community aspects. These are really valuable for the learning experience and is really complimentary to the lessons and skills students will learn within the membership. Students are able to learn and develop new skills but typically stay within a membership community for the ongoing support it provides.
Nat asks, "how was running your membership, The Passive Project Membership, affected your brand?" Gemma details that it has opened an opportunity to serve students in a greater numbers at an affordable rate in contrast to her private 1:1 services. A membership allows her to serve to continue to provide coaching calls, Q&A's and full access to her for support and expertise.
Gemma explains that when you are looking to promote and fill your membership to be very clear on who you are trying to attract within the membership. They need to be very aligned and on similar paths. It's also a platform that provides real-time response and information.
Memberships are also great opportunities that provide monthly recurring revenue, especially with a good churn rate (which is membership speak for low-turnover of members leaving).
In terms of balancing work and family life, Nat asks Gemma how has implementing a membership services into her business has affected her family life. Gemma describes her "shtick" to be creating a business that doesn't need to be run 24/7. It's an opportunity to allow school drop-offs and pick-ups, travel and freedom with family.
"What piece of advice she would give to those looking to start a membership?" to which Gemma chats about the value in tapping into the audience you already have and seek out their struggles and pain points. Tune in at the 12:58 mark for some BIG tips from Gemma! And at 13:53 she shares a surprising fact about how she started her membership!

The Invested Success Series was created to educate you on the multitude of opportunities that are available to entrepreneurs everywhere. The question is, which one is right for you and your business? The series is fast-paced: five questions in under 25 minutes.
Today's episode is like two episodes packed into one as the ladies chat about investing in an online course as well as an in-person class or workshop.
To start, Nat interviews Ang to discuss the details of launching an online course. Ang describes the intention and process behind creating her first online course: from which platform she chose, what she included and what changes she would make in the future. Ang describes that online courses are a fantastic way to accommodate a larger audience, teach on something that you're passionate and knowledgeable about while keeping costs manageable for the members.
In the second half, the ladies chat with Owner and Operator of Cellar 82, Kasey Boudreau. Cellar 82 is a renovated 1967 Airstream® trailer turned it into a one-of-a-kind mobile bar and lounge. It offers a stylish alternative to the traditional catered bar, that has serviced hundreds of weddings, birthdays, and large scale events. It's so versatile that it can be used for pretty much anything!
Kasey chats with Nat and Ang about creating opportunities in her off-season by offering cocktail classes inside this unique mobile bar. She also discusses how utilizing social media in unique ways during the current global situation to continue to entertain, reach and grow her audience.
And to wrap up the episode, Kasey shares a great recipe for a French 75 cocktail! All you need is some bubbles (champagne but process can work), gin and lemon juice. Or if you've got access to some delicious flavoured balsamic, go ahead and swap that out for the lemon!

Nat & Ang continue on with their Invested Success Series. And Ang puts Nat in the hot seat asking her questions about being in a mastermind.
What is a Mastermind?
It's a meeting with a group of business professionals that respect one another, and give peer to peer mentoring. Not just around business, about also touching on self help and personal development.
What is are the largest benefits of being part of a Mastermind?
Nat explains it’s the accountability, and second fold, receiving business advice from top notch business owners that are like-minded and that she respects completely. Being very picky about who should be invited into your mastermind is one of the most important parts to starting a mastermind.
How would you go about starting a Mastermind? Is there criteria to start?
1. Find a group of people who are committed
2. And people you respect fully in their opinions
3. Choose how long and how often you want to meet
4. Help each other grow regularly
5. Have an agenda and a time keeper
Nat and a peer spoke on the phone one day on how “You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with”. And decided to create a group with five individuals - spending lots of time with these four individuals and the fifth being your spouse - this was worked for them.
Is there an ideal number of members in a Mastermind?
Nat prefers a smaller group, but knows of a other masterminds that contain over 50 people.
How has this pandemic changed her Mastermind?
Because a mastermind is a group of people committed to each other, they have always kept their meetings as a priority. Whether someone is sick, or on vacation, they never miss a meeting. And have conducted great meetings thru zoom conference calls.
The only difference is that we now get on a call once a week to check in with each other and make sure everyone is doing okay. But everything is still business as usual in regards to the monthly meetings.
They discuss why they created this series. It’s about learning about different ways that you can invest in yourself and your business. And with a mastermind, seeing how far they have come in two years of being in each others lives is inspiring.
Nat ends the conversation discussing that it’s really important to network and get out there to be part of a group. Even if it’s not a mastermind.
Napoleon Hill wrote in The Law of Success in 1925, all about Masterminds. Almost 100 years ago!
Let’s Put This Episode Into Focus:
1. Masterminds are built on mutual Respect
2. Commitment is Key
3. It’s not all business. There is room for personal growth.
4. Masterminds are all about Accountability
