It was time to do another duet for our hardest softies so Meg and Julian go sans guest for a show about their worst (best?) break-ups! They say that breaking up is hard to do, but what they don’t say is how fun it is to talk about it after it’s over. Meg talks about dumping a guy on his way to pick her up for a dance, while Julian revisits the time he got punched in the face in the middle of a busy intersection. And since this is the Soft Spot, of course they talk about break up songs (Duran Duran and Broken Social Scene — can you guess whose is whose?). So get a haircut, get a gym membership, and start a new hobby it is time to break up baby.

This week we welcome comedian, actor, and our neighbor, John Milhiser (SNL)! We take a trip back to the late 80’s, a time when cartoons still had an edge and happy meal toys were actually more exciting than the food. We did a little googling to check on the worth of our assets (our old stuffed animals) and it turns out, we all better come up with a better financial plan! We also talk a lot about John’s Soft Spot, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”! John is what you might call a Rabbithead (is that a thing? If it wasn’t before, it is now) and he really made Roger Rabbit a *lifestyle*- from homemade Halloween costumes to themed birthdays to talking Roger plush toys. We also touch on Meg’s Soft Spot for the 1993 movie “Indecent proposal”. We will offer you a million dollars to subscribe, rate, and review! (No, we won’t, but you should do it anyway)

This week we welcome hilarious TRIPLE THREAT comedian Jade Catta-Preta to the show to talk about her fuzzy place: musicals! We discuss her cosmopolitan upbringing (Brazil, New York, West Virginia) her early foray into musical theater (The D.A.R.E Program) and her ability to perform Hamilton in its entirety at the drop of a powdered wig. We also hear the heartbreaking story of Meg's star turn in the Galveston Opera House presentation of Peter Pan. Also, Julian learns why over the top sincere singing is good for the soul. Have a seat in the orchestra and listen up!

It’s a solo ep with your nostalgiaholic buds, Meg and Julian! Today is Julian’s 40th birthday (yes, today, May 29!) so we decided to take a trip down memory lane and discuss some of our favorite birthdays of years gone by. Julian tells us about getting his dream bike at age 6 (and then getting it stolen shortly after). Meg talks troll dolls, cabbage patch kids, and the thrill of hearing your birthday announced to the entire school over the loudspeakers. We also trade 21st birthday stories, and you can decide for yourself who wins for most fun on that one. So throw on your birthday suit and press play, baby!

Today we welcome our friend, comedian and fellow podcaster, Dave Ross to the show. We talk about Dave’s time touring on the Warped Tour and his nostalgic appreciation for pop punk. We touch on all of the worst bands on the tour and marvel at the level of misogyny in some of the most unimaginative (but def entertaining!) lyrics we have ever heard! We then get into his actual Soft Spot- Calvin and Hobbes! We all talk about how most kid’s entertainment has pretty much gone to hell, which explains A LOT- “It’s not global warming, we are all just getting closer to hell!”

This week we welcome back friend of the Spot, Joe Derosa!

Joe has been a fan of horror movies since he was ten years old and saw Nightmare on Elm Street with his mom (too young? Probably!).He now has a house full of horror dvds that he says help him escape the stress of real life, something we totally get. But much like the idyllic beginnings of most thrillers, we start with a fun and pleasant intro about Sex and the City (we're all a Carrie), LA vs. NYC, and our Enneagram personality types. So listen up and leave the lights on!

This week we welcome sensitive gamer hunks (three words you've never heard used together before)  Keith and Jesse! Their awesome podcast "New Player Has Joined" is all about video games, and we delve into the games we loved most from our childhoods. From the addictive fun of Mario and Duck Hunt (sounds dirty!), to the intensity of Final Fantasy and Red Dead 2, and even the games you just wanna hang out in without doing much (Waverace 64 doesn't have to be a race after all). There is also much discussion of how to juggle video games with jobs and relationships. So blow on your cartridge, put on your power glove, and hit start!
