Simon and Mathew are on a very touching and deep journey to bring Mary back to Jesus. Mary in episode 5 was confronted with her past and being overwhelmed by the fear of her past flees from Jesus’ side. During this episode, we follow Mary as she dives back into old habits as Simon and Matthew are searching for her. John is arrested which causes friction between many including the disciples. James and John share an important moment of surrender to follow Jesus despite their inability to understand His teachings and their place within the ministry. There is trouble afoot with Shumel and Yanni seeking justice again Jesus’ blasphemy. One of the themes of this episode is love and how love conquers the law. This episode also teaches a very important lesson in obedience over preference. Jesus performs a miracle and satisfies the hunger of his followers. Lastly, we see how Jesus forgives and moves forward.

In the episode entitled, "Spirit" we witness a lot of complex moments as the show covers a variety of plot lines and twist. May Magdalene battles against her past demons and confronts one. Ramah is struggling as a student. Simon the Zealot is seeking after Jesus because he believes Jesus is the Messiah but he is not the only one. John the Baptist and Jesus have their final emotional heart to heart as they look to the future. Jesus knowing that John will die and John waiting in hope to see all the Jesus would do. Oh yea, there is a demon casted out too!

This episode is the tale of two brothers. Both equally famous in scripture but not related. Simon the Zealot and the lame man by the pool. We see the struggle of the lame man by the pool to get into the water. He tries multiple times to get into the pool but get step on and over while others get in the water. The disciples prepare for the feast of tabernacles. Simon the Zealot gets his first assignment to assassinate a roman official. Jesus gets into some good trouble in the temple and makes the pharisees angry.

In Syria, the disciples take shifts to help Jesus deal with a large crowd hoping to be healed. Philip continues to mentor Matthew, while Mary Magdalene and Ramah start to study Torah. A long, exhausting day turns into night as the disciples share how they perceive the Messiah.

At the core of this episode is relationship. We meet Nathaniel and Phillip. We see Nathaniel struggle for respect and Phillip comes into the group as breath of fresh air. The 12 are searching for their place in the ranks and Peter is questioning everything. Mary and Rama seek a surprising mentor in the scriptures. Jesus gives the disciples a lesson in humility without words.

On the heels of the season finale where we see Jesus officially start his ministry, things start to ramp up with people flocking to hear his teachings. Tensions rise between Matthew and Simon as well as between Jesus and Ramah's father upon him learning his daughters intentions to follow Jesus. We see an interesting and tear jerking twist on the Good Samaritan. Jesus and his followers crashing at the woman at the wells house all leading up to James and John earning the name sons of thunder from Jesus.

This episode I love to call aftermath. We see what happens after one receives an invitation from Jesus. Nicodemus is wrestling between his status and the life that Jesus promises. Matthew starts his journey with the Jesus as the other disciples’ question why he was even invited, and Rome learns of Matthew’s decision. There is also a mysterious woman who is looking for acceptance within her community. There is trouble rising within the synagogues with the Jewish leaders. Jesus ties up loose ends at Peter’s house. The disciples begin their walk with the Lord. Lastly, we see a well sitting on a well to provide living water to a thirsty soul.

If episode 6 was about faith episode 7 is about searching. The episode focuses mainly on two men who have searching for answers for a while, with Matthew and nicodemus, we see many pivotal scenes from Matthew questioning his mother despite his wealth and position what is everything he knew was a lie to Jesus meeting Nicodemus under the cover of night speaking those famous words of John 3:16 which ultimately leads to Jesus inviting both men to follow him!

Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones (Isaiah 49:13).  In the beginning of this episode, we return to the aftermath of a miracle with Matthew trying figure out it was possible. The Jewish leaders are in discord over John the Baptist and one of them learn their place. Yet riding on the wings of the wedding gift I call this episode “Jesus Unleashed”. In this episode we witness the magnificent miracles of Jesus. He encounters a leper and paralyzed man with faith which moves Him with compassion to heal them both. Behind the scenes we begin to see the dynamic of disciples to form. Peter begins to worry about his position with Jesus. James and John stepping up to be His protector. Matthew sees Jesus for a second time which begins a transformation from within. Jesus confronts the religious leaders with divine insight and Nicodemus finds what he’s been looking for. This episode has a theme of compassion which overtakes us all.

Episode five is called “The Wedding Gift”. In this episode, we find a lot of juxtaposition and symbolism. As Jesus’ ministry begins to rise; John the Baptist’s ministry is declining. We see Peter’s relationship with his wife Eden began to heal as he tells her about his call from Jesus. We are introduced to two new characters Thomas and Ramah. Nicodemus, curiosity about Jesus is on the rise as he questions John about the man responsible for the miracles. Lastly, in this episode we see Thomas questioning the methods of Jesus as He turns water into wine. The underlying theme behind the Wedding Gift is mother’s relationship with her son.
