The goal of the enemy in temptation is never to change your God. It is only to change the who in your story.

This is part seven of the Temptations of Sons series, continuing through the third temptation where Satan brings Jesus to the highest mountain. The teaching traces three phases of spiritual maturity, child, young, and veteran, and shows how each phase carries a specific vulnerability in worship. Children are pulled by what they see, the young are driven by the need to prove, and veterans can begin to credit themselves for what Christ has done. The corrective for each phase is not more discipline but a clearer Christocentrism. The enemy does not need to overthrow your theology. He only needs to shift the subject of your testimony from Christ to the opposition, and shift the why from love to your own effort or resources. A testimony without Christ is stew without rice. The power of any testimony is the Christ revealed in it, and the why of everything God does toward sons is always love, not tithing, not fasting, not achievement, but who he is.
