It's a busy day on this Monday following the collapse of SVB. The Feds have stepped in to assure us that all deposits - no matter the amount - that were in Silicon Valley Bank will be covered. Depsite that there has been another bank failure, and more are likely on the way. Meanwhile, my experience interacting with the Etsy seller community (covered in my stream this past Saturday) showed just how shaky the ground is on which so many small businesses are built. In this video I break all this down and give my thoughts on the state of things.

On Friday SVB (Silicone Valley Bank) was shut down by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation and put in receivership with with the FDIC. Meanwhile the Etsy selling community is in a panic as many deposits have been held up by this failure. Despite overnight reports that progress had been made on a deal, it's now clear that the 21 holdouts are not budging and the votes are simply not there. We can simply say that 2023 is anything but dull as Kevin McCarthy loses 7th speaker vote in a row. The group that is standing against McCarthy is holding strong at least for now, and it's clear through this vote that even if Kevin McCarthy gets the job in the end he'll have a group of people on him at every moment. In this video I discuss why I think this group standing firm against McCarthy is historic, funny, sad, and needed, and all these things all at once.
