Dan and Producer-Wife Beth discuss an Adobe prediction that holiday online sales will reach a record high this year despite supply chain issues. Dan gives his opinion on how good this will be for small, independent online sellers. The two cover the story of Belcampo, a meat / restaurant company that has closed its doors after allegedly selling lower standard meat as high end product. Finally Dan and Beth dig into the story of a restaurant that says robots are helping its servers make more money.

Dan and Producer-Wife Beth couldn't find happy news today. They tried. So instead they cover the three dumbest things of the day. First, Dan shakes his head at the decision by San Francisco to close an In & Out over their unwillingness to make each customer prove vaccine status before entering. In segment two, Dan and Beth break down the decision by a California school to make elementary kids eat outside during the rain to keep them safe from the virus. Finally, the dynamic duo shake their heads at a new Minnesota program offering kids cards and scholarships to kids willing to get the shot in the arm.

Dan and the Producer-Wife Beth further their Walgreens discussion from yesterday as San Francisco is now diverting the blame for the closings back onto Walgreens. Pete Buttigieg was on State of the Union with Jake Tapper. Dan and Beth break down that segment and give their thoughts. In the final segment the two discuss how the 5-star review system used by most customer-facing businesses has gone from a quest for knowledge to a complete lie.

Dan and Producer-Wife Beth discuss a small toy store in New Jersey that's looking locally to stock their shelves for the holidays in order to get around port delays. Walgreens announces that it's closing five more stores in San Francisco while drug stores in New York are taking to simply locking up stuff as simple as bar soap. Meanwhile ranchers in the heartland are getting together to build their own meat processing plant to bypass the big four processors and gain back profitability.

Dan lets his frustration boil over as shortages, delays, and other issues continue to mount across the country, causing him to question the direction of the United States and its leadership. He and the Producer-Wife Beth share their Friday night dinner experience with Arizona restaurant Haymaker and how they did bad but then kinda did good. Dan devotes the third segment to a celebration of Dominoes Pizza, a once floundering business that completely changed its game after first recognizing and admitting to all its mistakes.

Tens of thousands of workers have either gone on strike or are about to across a wide swath on industries, exasperating the massive inflation and shortages problems we already have. In some cases the workers have a valid point. In others they are probably asking for too much. In either case damage is being done at a time when we cannot afford it, and the likes of AOC and others have gotten #striketober to trend, making matters worse. Walls are up and the divide is great in many of these disputes. We dig into four specific situations with John Deere, Kelloggs, IATSE, and Kaiser Permanente, calling balls and strikes as we see them.
