In our second season of The PlainStory, 'The Sound of Home', Genevieve Randall takes you on a journey through Lincoln, Nebraska. Instead of individual stories, we're making our next batch of stories episodic, and centered around the themes of music and home. Genevieve, an NET Radio host, interviews immigrant, Native American and refugee musicians and artists to explore the concepts of music and home, and learn more about herself. She wants to see how music can be used to create a new sense of home, evoke memories of different cultures, and how she can use her knowledge of music to be a better neighbor.

In the early days, pioneering Plains residents found novel ways to celebrate the holidays, even when things like Christmas trees were hard to come by. Today, we’ll hear stories about some annual pastimes that keep folks busy in the colder months, and take a look back at some holiday history.
