It is that time of year where all we can do is wait. Deer season is still a ways away but its never too late or too early to get ready. Join Charlie as he talks of his weekend preparation plans and how he plans on spending his season hunting and teaching his daughter.

Charlie talks about last seasons lessons learned and how he plans to head into this years deer season, as well as how he plans to hunt for hogs and what he wants to do beyond hunting.

Charlie tells of his recent trip to a friends home property where they made plans for the upcoming hunting seasons and introduced a new beagle pup to the outdoors, with intent of making a blood tracking dog out of her.

With Memorial Day weekend weather looking good, Charlie hopes to get the boat on the river for some much needed fishing and hopefully a chance at some hog sightings. With the river finally coming down after some recent floods it should be an interesting trip in the newly renovated jon boat. One thing is for certain, Charlie is more than excited to finally be back on the river he loves so much.

With temperatures beginning to rise in the south and summer just around the corner, Charlie wants to touch on ways to be prepared while hog hunting. Hazards like dehydration and heat stroke come to mind when talking about hunting in the Texas heat, but there are a lot more potential hazards to keep in mind when one may be out chasing hogs. On top of all the risks that come with summer time hog hunting, beating the clock on field dressing and cleaning your hog is another thing to factor in when dealing with the heat. Being prepared as a hunter is one thing, but being prepared as "hungry" hunter is another.

With more rain in the forecast for most of Texas and it's neighbors to the east, it looks like it may become difficult to hunt the already evasive wild hogs. Flooding can make hunting conditions very difficult and land almost un-navigable. Tune in with Charlie as he gives insight on what you might expect from wild hogs in flood conditions along water ways, as well why they may change their usual behavior.
