Charlie talks about spring hog hunting and gives his opinion on why he believes hog hunters tend to take a break this time of year. It has been a wet one so far this spring in south Texas, which only adds to the many variables that effect hog hunting conditions. As if it isn't already hard enough, adding high humidity and a million bugs and mosquitos to the mix makes hog hunting almost unbearable.

Spring has officially begun and brought its first big rain which will do everyone a whole lot of good, including wild hogs. With the river running above average, Charlie cannot help but think of finishing his jon boat project and getting on the water to chase down some good ole river hogs. With the population on a steady rise, it is important to get creative and think of new ways to be successful in eradicating wild hogs. Join Charlie this week as he shares some of his new ideas in hunting hogs and the ways he hopes to have success in the upcoming True Hog Hunters tournaments.

Charlie announces the winners for the True Hog Hunters tournament and what he expects the following months look like for hog hunters. With a spring camping trip right around the corner, Charlie admits to  being distracted in his efforts in hunting hogs and more focused on his boat build and camp prep. 

February is coming to an end in the blink of an eye and with temperatures warming up, Charlie is more than ready for spring to begin. Hog hunting has been a failure so far leaving Charlie with an empty box trap for the past couple of weeks. However, there is much to look forward too as the season begins to change. Turkey season is fast approaching and rio grande turkeys have already been taking over the woods it seems. The river has never looked better and with the boat project almost finished, it wont be long until weekends are spent catching catfish and looking for wild hogs along the bank. One thing is for certain, the only way to be successful in hunting hogs is to be persistent and adapt as the hogs adapt. A new season will have them chasing new sources of food and venturing into new and greener pastures. 

With January officially behind us, February begins a new tournament and brings with it new prizes as well. Charlie talks about his trap set up and his hopes for success so that he may harvest some wild pork and make sausage with the meat from his whitetail buck from this season. The tournament is off to a great start in February and already has 3 contestants fighting for first.

With deer season officially over for most hunters, Charlie plans to up his efforts in hog hunting to not only compete in the tournaments, but do his part in the conservation effort while getting some serious bow hunting practice in.

A start to a new year brings a fresh start to a new tournament as well as the crowing of 2022's champion for most hogs eradicated, submitted, and approved. 2023 is going to be even better with new competitors and higher stakes. There is a lot of work to do to get a handle on this hog population. Charlie plans on doing his part and hopes to encourage others along the way. 

With just days left in the 2022 season of True Hog Hunters and Army Hog Hunters tournaments, Charlie takes time to go over some of the numbers that our competitors have put up for the year and what may come in 2023. The season is not quite over yet which means there is still a chance to compete in Decembers tournament and leave 2022 with a victory. Our goal for 2023 is simple, up the stakes and encourage competitors to up their efforts in eradicating more hogs.
