According to the American Burn Association, approximately 450,000 burn injuries require medical treatment annually in the United States, with 3,500 deaths resulting from fire and burn-related incidents.     Alabama has experienced the largest improvement in fourth-grade math scores nationwide, according to newly released results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress. The state moved from 52nd in 2019 to 32nd in 2024, marking a dramatic turnaround. Alabama’s six-point increase in scale scores was the highest in the country, making it one of only five states to recover to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in fourth-grade math.
