Autumn Rocker slammed five home runs as Jackson’s softball team emerged as the Washington County Invitational champion over the weekend. The Aggies defeated Washington County (12- 2), Fruitdale (18-4), and Millry (18-3). Jackson also lost to the Wildcats 4-2. Millry (4), Jackson (2) Kristen Yeager was 3-for-3 with a solo home run in the Aggies’ loss. Millry’s Hayden Beasley hit solo and two-run homers. The Grove Hill Fire Department said it responded to a report of smoke inside the Burger King restaurant shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday and no damage was reported. Upon arrival, firefighters found employees had already evacuated the building as a precaution. After conducting a thorough inspection, firefighters determined the smoke originated from the heating and cooling ductwork. The restaurant reopened shortly thereafter.
