    I hope everyone stayed safe during the Snowpocalypse of 2025. In a previous Snowpocalypse many years ago, all the schools closed when a rare snowstorm blanketed my little town. The first time I ever hunted in the snow, I took Panther, my full-blooded black Labrador retriever. As big as a three-legged moose, but not as graceful, she loved the woods. Born with cataracts, she could only see peripheral movement. My dad adopted her before the breeder put her down. With weather too cold and dangerous to attend school, I did what came naturally.     K.D. Moore scored 19 points and D.J. Burroughs and Trae Banks each contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds in Jackson Academy’s 45- 18 victory over Coosa Valley Academy in the AISA boys semifinals. The Eagles fell to Trinity Christian 38-37 in the finals, despite Banks’ 26 points and 12 rebounds. “These boys have fought hard to get to this point,” assistant coach Dee Burroughs said. “ I’m beyond proud of the resilience they’ve shown throughout the season.     Roderick Hamilton scored 16 points, including 12 on four 3-pointers, to lead No. 7-ranked Jackson to a 76-38 rout of W.S. Neal Friday night. The win improved the defending state champion Aggies to 15-4 overall and 3-0 in 4A Area 2, solidifying their position as a postseason contender.
