Walgreens customers in Jackson will now have the option to transfer their prescriptions to CVS Pharmacy at 813 College Ave., following the closure of the local Walgreens store. A notice posted at the Jackson Walgreens states that all prescription files will be securely transferred to the College Ave. CVS starting January 22, 2025. Leah Ott recently participated in the state-level Distinguished Young Woman (DYW) competition, held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25, at Frazer Church on Atlanta Highway in Montgomery. The Jackson City Council convened Jan. 28 to pass Resolution 01-28-25A, officially appointing Bobby Brooks as the new council member for District 3, Place 1. Brooks replaces Carol Goolsby, marking the start of a new chapter for the district. GROVE HILL — Alan Jordan, CEO of Grove Hill Memorial Hospital, addressed the Clarke County Commission on Jan. 28 to request support for improvements to the county’s emergency medical services (EMS) and ambulance coverage. Jordan outlined challenges the hospital faces in managing patient transfers and insufficient ambulance resources, which are affecting both emergency care and routine 911 responses. Jordan explained that approximately 8% of emergency room patients at Grove Hill Memorial require transfers to higher level care facilities, such as those in Mobile, Montgomery, or Birmingham.
