The journey of self-discovery can be as exciting as a morning sunrise and just as scary as a lightning storm in the middle of the night. Your purpose has to mean the most to you and no one else. And for those who don’t share your purpose, that just means they have other plans, and that’s okay. Not everyone is part of the plan.

Tina believed that moving across the country for a job was her purpose. It looked right on paper and sounded good when she told the story. But once she got there, the days felt heavy, the nights felt long, and something was missing. What she learned wasn’t that she failed, it was that she listened. She realized purpose isn’t always about chasing something far away; sometimes it’s about paying attention to what no longer fits.

Remember, purpose has a way of tapping you on the shoulder when you’re quiet enough to hear it. And when it does, don’t ignore it just because others don’t understand. Keep moving forward, even if the path changes. Especially if the path changes.

Remember, it’s not about the bad choices you’ve made; it’s about the ones you’re going to make. You can change the outcome at any given moment, the instant you decide to do so.

“There is danger in your heart,” the fortune teller said as she read the cards in a dimly lit room, candlelight flickering while her dark eyes looked like windows into the past.

“How so?” he asked.

“Never wish bad on others,” she said. “It’s never okay to wish harm on anyone. When you do, you’re inviting that same energy back into your own life, often tenfold. Karma doesn’t discriminate, what you reap, you will eventually sow.”

So what do you do when you feel wronged by someone? It’s completely natural to vent, to cry, to get angry, and to feel every emotion rushing through you, stopping just short of wishing harm on the other person. When you do that, you’re not only protecting your karma, you’re also choosing peace over poison. And that’s a win if there ever was one.

Remember, don’t put danger in your heart, it may be your own heart that feels the most pain.

We don’t all fly the same or even soar as high as others, but given the right opportunity, we can all take flight, she said as she filled the coffee cup at Nancy’s Fork and Spoon on Beach Drive. True enough… and sometimes we’re carrying broken wings that simply need time to heal.

That little place had seen more stories than most people realize. Sunburned fishermen, tired travelers, locals who never left, and dreamers who almost did. Everyone passed through those doors with something unseen tucked under their arm. Some carried hope. Some carried regret. Some just needed a warm cup and a moment where nothing was expected of them.

Too many people I know think they’re failing because they’re not flying yet. But flight comes after repair, after rest, after the hard choice to stop pretending. And when the time is right, you don’t need permission or applause. You just rise, steady and sure, because the strength has already returned.

Remember, not all growth looks like movement, not all strength is loud, and not all wings are meant to fly on the same wind. Just keep moving, and one sunny day it will all make sense.

If flaws were a type of material used to stitch our coats of good intentions, we’d all be wearing them. Some patched up from old lessons, some frayed at the seams from trying too hard, and a few buttoned wrong from the very start.

I’ve learned over the years that those flaws don’t mean the coat failed, they mean it’s been worn. It’s been out in the weather, through long nights, early mornings, and decisions that didn’t turn out the way we hoped. The people who look the most put together usually just learned how to carry their imperfections with a little grace and keep moving forward anyway.

Remember, perfection was never the goal, showing up honestly always was.

While there is no mention of how or when, a place where timeframes mean little, the story often starts with giving up. With being discouraged. With second-guessing and reacting to all the what ifs.

Most of us have second-guessed ourselves many times, usually out of fear built from past failures and disappointments. And most of the time, the road ahead looks a lot longer than we imagined when the idea first showed up.

There are no easy answers. Things are what they are sometimes, and that’s why all clocks keep moving forward to another day whether we’re ready or not. Dimly lit, smoky bars… sunrises and sunsets… they all feed the same quiet energy that helps you find your way through the rain, and you move on.

The story inside the story tells us this though: about the time you decide to give up is usually when everything is lining up. And then, and only then, do you realize it was never the rain slowing you down… it was time giving you the moment you weren’t ready for yet.

Remember, not everything delayed is denied, sometimes it’s just still becoming.

The ocean has a way of slowing time down, pulling your thoughts back to yourself. I was standing there watching the water when a plane passed overhead, dragging one of those long banners behind it. For a moment I thought it said, “Are you happy?”

It didn’t.

It said, “Are you ready for happy hour?”

Still, the question lingered longer than the banner did. Funny how the mind does that, turning what we see into what we need to think about.

I always thought it was funny to advertise one hour to be happy.

The pursuit of happiness can be an elusive thing. Not because it’s impossible, but because we sometimes keep running from the very life we once said yes to. We second-guess our choices, wondering what else might have been, forgetting that the world we’re standing in is one we helped build along the way.

Happiness isn’t always found by starting over. Sometimes it shows up when we stop running, take a breath, and notice what’s already working, what’s already good, and who’s still standing beside us.

Remember, happiness isn’t a destination you chase, it’s a perspective you practice. Being happy is not a one our special.

Sometimes the one thing you keep searching for is the very thing you’re already doing.

I had a friend once who drove long distances picking up the recently departed and bringing them home to their families. We all thought it was a strange way to make a living, a little spooky, definitely heavy. He’d just laugh and say, “Someone has to do it. There’s a real need, and I believe I’m offering a service for those who can no longer ask.” Then he’d pause and add, “I’m sure I won’t do it forever.”

What stuck with me wasn’t the job itself, but the way he talked about it. There was purpose there. Respect. Quiet dignity. He wasn’t chasing a dream job or some grand title. He was simply showing up where he was needed, doing something meaningful, even if it didn’t make sense to anyone else.

A lot of people spend their lives searching, for the right job, the right calling, the right moment to begin. But sometimes the answer isn’t out there waiting to be found. Sometimes it’s already in motion. It’s the thing you’re doing naturally, the thing people rely on you for, the thing that gives you a sense of usefulness even on hard days.

Not everything we’re meant to do is forever. But everything we do can teach us something about who we are and what matters to us.

Remember, purpose doesn’t always arrive with applause or clarity. Sometimes it shows up quietly, disguised as work you’re already doing, asking only that you do it with care.

Through the haze of rain and darkness, you see flashing signs, unsure of what’s behind you or what’s ahead. All you know is you never wished for this. You didn’t plan for it, but here it is.

More often than not, those storms come from someone else’s plans for you. Choices made without you, turns you never expected, situations you never would have agreed to, yet somehow, you’re the one driving through it.

With careful advice, belief in yourself, and the courage to keep going, you make it through. The clouds begin to break, the sunlight returns, and steam rises from the pavement like echoes of the past finally letting go. What once felt overwhelming becomes proof that you survived something you thought you couldn’t.

Remember, give yourself a little credit. You do know what you’re doing. You weren’t betrayed, you were redirected, strengthened, and prepared for what comes next.

Time humbles us all if we let it. Jobs change. Circumstances shift. Pride softens. And the people who make the biggest difference aren’t the loud ones or the ones keeping score, they’re the ones who remember what it felt like to struggle and choose kindness anyway.
