Amy takes some youths to a kid’s show at First Avenue at 11:30 on a Sunday morning. Spoiler Alert: It was disappointing and all the adults were drunk. On the bright side, the kids did get to experience the iconic First Ave. bathroom. News Flash: Maya hates the movie Christmas Vacation. The ladies discuss all the albums that have dropped this year. Next, Maya exposes Amy to a new AI band Girly Girl Productions. Amy did not see this coming. In other news, Amy hates the Oxford word of the year. Maya just learned about BookTok. Amy loves author readings at bookstores - even if she’s never read the book! The ladies reminisce about the video store adult section. The pod’s favorite rat boy Timothée Chalamet is in town promoting his Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown. The ladies ask why the hell is he coming here trying to convince people to like Minnesota. Apparently, we are “generous of spirit” whatever that means. Maya just learned about Shaboozey. He was snubbed at the CMAs! In restaurant news, a favorite childhood restaurant, Chi-Chi’s, returns! Don’t worry that they once gave 600 people Hep A. Animal Report: Orcas are wearing “salmon hats”. Amy does not miss late-night pasteboard runs for school projects. 

Amy and Producer Tyler are a real pair of Thanksgiving Grinches this week. It’s snowing on SOSS street this week. Winter is here! Thanksgiving rocks because all the baby grown-ups are home! Amy has an IKEA adventure. The ladies analyze the not-so-sexy Target Santa. Maya proposes Amy watch the Kansas City Chiefs Hallmark movie. Amy isn’t into it. Amy reviews Irish Wish starring Lindsey Lohan, a “great little actress”. Amy also reviews You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. The ladies also dissect M. Night Shyamalan’s movie Trap. In other news, Amy has turned her bathtub into a plant ICU. Hometown hero Josh Hartnett is back! Maya has a correction from the last episode concerning Kum & Go and Pump & Munch. She got her filthy gas stations mixed up. Maya reviews the movie lien: Romulus. Amy can’t wait for celebrity variety show season. Amy is excited about Ben Stiller. Maya is still obsessed with ESPN Ocho. Maya loves a human-sized nutcracker. Amy is upset with her neighbor’s choice of outdoor Christmas decorations. Imagine Mickey and Minnie in a NASCAR car. The ladies review Hot Frosty, the Hallmark-style Netflix Christmas romance starring Lacy Chabert. It’s a real Siskel and Ebert moment. Spoiler Alert: Hot Frosty isn’t that hot. Amy watched the Martha Stewart doc and is loving Martha’s badassery. Iconic! Amy reviews the movie Wicked. Amy is on a Christmas decorating tear. Also, she’s rearranged the shit out of her house. 

Amy’s mom Marsh is in the house for this week’s ep! Don’t get excited…she’s not talking much for some reason. She does yell from the living room occasionally though. Speaking of houses, Maya’s childhood home is for sale. Don’t worry, she’s not sentimental about it. What happened to the carpeted poles? Amy and Maya reminisce about one of Amy’s childhood homes. They solve the mystery of why they didn’t go to the same elementary school. Maya learns about “Pow Ball” and introduces Amy to ESPN Ocho and “Roof Ball”.  Amy recaps the Netflix failed attempt to live broadcast the big fight. Maya puts herself in the shoes of the person in charge of the failed Netflix live broadcast. It’s not a good feeling. Next up, an in-depth analysis of the Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum break-up. The ladies are totally jazzed for Christmas romcom season including “Hot Frosty”, a movie about Lacey Chabert (of Party of Five fame) falling in love with a hot snowman that comes to life. It’s a good thing she didn’t put that magic scarf on a dumpy snowman. Sad news, the gas station brand Kum & Go is rebranding.

Poor buddy! Also, ESCAPED RESEARCH MONKEYS! Amy is applying to be a dog buddy. Space Junk Report: Voyager (launched in 1977) starts transmitting again! It’s 15 billion miles away! Maya reviews the show Dr. Odyssey starring Pacey from Dawson’s Creek. She and Producer Tyler affectionately call it Dr. Boat Slut. Don Johnson is the captain! It’s definitely approved. Amy has a rant about the phrase, “Return to your seats”.  Maya dissects Martha Stewart’s beef with Ina Garten. Martha is an epic queen. Amy recounts an angry civilian at a party in Austin. It gave her life. Approved/Denied: Brands are giving you less choices. Hallmark Channel does Lacy Chabert and Holly Robinson Peete dirty. 

It’s election night 2024 and Amy and Maya are naively unaware of what’s about to unfold. They start by recapping Halloween and the state of wacky Kornacki’s khakis. Next, they cover Amy’s epic day of returns. Maya remembers how she and her dad voted in their first presidential elections together in 1996. Amy is still confused by Bob Dole’s pen. Amy suspects the church where she votes has ulterior motives. Maya is still confused by caucusing and Amy wants local candidate Ned Carrol to knock it off with the texts and pamphlets already. The penguin’s dad’s name is Blake? Amy catches us up on the Golden Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars. The men in the house are having an amazing bromance. Why are there bunkbeds in the mansion? Amy reviews the book From Here to the Great Unknown by Lisa Marie Presley and her daughter Riley Keough. Five out of five bookmarks! 

This week Amy and Maya kick off the pod with a controversial take on everyone thinking their kids are the best. Amy came into the pod hot with big football energy. SKOL! Tennis Report: The ladies are going to the Miami Open! They discuss whether or not they will get kicked out for being too loud and how often they’ll pee their pants from laughing. Amy has some really crazy ideas about what Producer Tyler does when Maya’s out of town. Amy has a football report. Concert Report: Octoberfest concert with Amy’s mom Marsh. In a shocking turn of events, Amy reveals her hate for the song Rock Around the Clock. Maya reviews the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The ladies dive into a spooky season preview. Amy recommends the Netflix show Nobody Wants This.

Amy kicks off the ep. with some football talk. Maya is on a staycation and is totally jazzed for all the work she’s going to get done around the house. Suburban life! Next up, a Dave Grohl scandal update involving a last-minute festival cancelation. Amy is not having it. If you work at a bank and you have an affair, you still have to go to work. In sad local news, food company Schwan’s went out of business. No more hiding from the Schwan’s man. RIP Schwan’s. There’s more Chappell Roan news this week. In a total right turn, it’s revealed that Producer Tyler attended a live taping of Designing Women. In other music news, Lana Del Rey marries an alligator tour operator. The ladies can’t get over Amy’s mom’s social posts. There is a fact check on a previous story on the pod involving Amy’s mom Marsh. Amy declares she is basically a “summer rat”.
