Maccabi Tel Aviv opens up their Euroleague campaign on Thursday night when they visit Khimki Moscow. Just ahead of the new continental season, The Sports Rabbi had the opportunity to speak with a number of Yellow & Blue player. Our first interview is with guard Nate Wolters who just arrived from Zalgiris. The conversation runs about 20 minutes as we talk all about his career, basketball and a whole lot more. Following Wolters are roughly three minute interviews with Tarik Black who returns for his second season at Maccabi, Othello Hunter who comes over from Euroleague champs CSKA, Maccabi Captain John DiBartolomeo, new power forward Quincy Acy, Tyler Dorsey who played in the NBA and the up and coming Sandy Cohen.

From re-signing so early last season, his thoughts on Jerusalem, playing high school ball in New York City, a trip through college and his professional career, as well as those who influenced him, James and I have an intimate conversation about sports, life and more!

The Sports Rabbi had the great honor to host Keith Dambrot, the head coach of Duquesne Dukes men’s basketball team who also was LeBron James first coach at Akron JCC and then at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. We talk about college ball, his career, Akron, his current challenge and of course arguably the greatest player since Michael Jordan.

Hapoel Tel Aviv’s shooting guard Rodney Purvis also joined The Sports Rabbi to talk about his move to Israel after playing in the G-League and with the Orlando Magic as well as Maccabi Tel Aviv legend Anthony Parker. We also look back at his college days with NC State and UCONN and also his love for football and Michael Vick.

AJ Mitnick, assistant coach with Ironi Ness Tziona joined The Sports Rabbi to talk about his career to date. From moving to Israel after graduating Yeshiva High School in New Jersey, to being an assistant coach with Rishon Le’Zion, Bnei Herzliya and now Ness Tziona, Mitnick takes us on a great Israeli basketball journey.

Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press came on board to look at forward Nick Ward who just signed with Hapoel Gilboa/Galil after playing at Michigan State while Jeff Greer of The Athletic also joined the program to talk about Hapoel Holon’s newest recruit Jaylen Johnson who played his college ball at Louisville.

Corey Fisher, Nes Ziona’s latest signing joined The Sports Rabbi to talk about his career in which has spanned roughly 10 countries and after attending Villanova University. Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog also came on board to gives us the rundown on Desi Rodriguez who recently joined Hapoel Tel Aviv. Also on tap was Alan Rubenstein who spoke about Hapoel Beer Sheva’s forward Anthony Lawrence.

John Petrucelli who recently joined Hapoel Beer Sheva spoke The Sports Rabbi about his career to date, growing up on Long Island, going to the Division II program at Molloy College, his G-League experience and what he’s looking forward to in Israel.

Jon Nyatawa of the Omaha World Herald also came on board to talk about Hapoel Holon’s new shooting guard Marcus Foster who played his college ball at Creighton (and before that at Kansas State).

Dom Amore from the Hartford Courant also joined the program to discuss Rodney Purvis who just signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv after spending time in the G-League after playing for UCONN in the NCAA.
