The Spy-Fi Guys

The 355 is named for the first female American spy, Agent 355, real name unknown. Featuring a diverse female cast, (including Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, and Lupita Nyong'o), the film has agents from the CIA, MI6, BND, Columbian, and Chinese intelligence agencies joining forces to find a device which can provide a backdoor into anything electrionic. Recurring guest stars Sarah and Carolyn take the lead this time, with Christian assisting.

The Spy-Fi Guys continue their convoluted coverage of the James Bond series of films with "The Living Daylights," Timothy Dalton's first outing as the suave superspy. This one is also notable for portraying the Afghanistan mujahideen as heroes who help Bond and this week's Bond girl defeat an arms merchant. Needless to say, it's quite a product of its time.

Tom Hanks stars as Charlie Wilson, a flamboyant Congressman who takes up the cause of the Afghani rebels fighting against the Soviet occupiers of their country. The Spy-Fi Guys note interesting parallels to today's foreign policy situation in this Aaron Sorkin written gem from 2007.

The Spy-Fi Guys continue their commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor." Roger Ebert described it as a movie about a Japanese attack on an American love triangle. Is it as bad as everyone says or has it aged gracefully? Guest starring Sarah.

The Spy-Fi Guys commemorate the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with a two part series, starting with 1970's "Tora! Tora! Tora!" Filmed by separate Japanese and American crews, this movie has no CGI and sacrifices good pacing for historical accuracy.  Stay tuned for Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor" next time. Guest starring ZJ from Tuesday Night Gaming.
