The year is finally coming to an end and all I can say is wow, what a year it has been I feel like it had a pretty slow start for me in the beginning and then blinked and suddenly we are in was December. So hopefully I am the first one to wish you guys a Merry Christmas and happy 2023!

WHERE I’VE BEEN

I've been a bit MIA on here but in case you missed my resent trip to South Africa you can catch up on some of the highlights on my instagram (@wabosha_maxine). I had a blast during that trip! My best Foi and I went to Johannesburg and Cape Town… it was good times and good vibes 😍

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessed with the advent calendar I got from a Lidnt store in South Africa.

It’s mostly exciting because it’s my very first advent calendar. And now I'm going to try and get different ones over the years. Hopefully as our budget goes up, we can move to the Swarovski one. I think that would be my ultimate advent calendar.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED

My biggest lesson in 2022 is to let go of things that no longer serve you or bring you happiness. Just let go of it! This could be something as deep has friendships, jobs, or partners - to something as minor as that shoe at the back of your closet that you haven't worn in years and you know for a fact you're not going to wear again.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I am currently watching Too Hot To Handle on Netflix.

Jawahir is my favourite contestant this time around. I am definitly rooting for her!

I love it! I can't wait for the new episodes to come out.

HOW I’M PRACTICING SELF-CARE

I'd say that this year one of the biggest forms of self-care is not procrastinating. Each time I procrastinate, I end up waiting until a few hours to the deadline, then I become extremely panicked and I try to get everything sorted out and it becomes extremely stressful. So in 2023 I'm going to try and procrastinate less so I can get stuff done!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

With all that’s been said I’m definitely looking forward to the new year! I hope to see each of you on the other side ☺️

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I usually leave what I’m looking forward to for the end of my newsletter updates, but I just couldn’t wait to tell you!! I have been busy preparing for the season 2 premier of A Letter To My Younger Self; plus the Bosh Drip re-brand 💃🏾

My schedule has been REALLY tight, but I am so excited because October has so many new things lined up 😍

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessed with Neviive. It’s a store on Instagram and I love that they get new stock often and their selection is pretty expansive. Another reason that they’re one of my personal favs is because they stock petite items. Their extra small stuff actually fits me and they have been my lifesaver for numerous events!

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I have been watching The Letdown on Netflix. It is a show about motherhood and I love that it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. The show actually tries to give a realistic depiction of what motherhood is like for different women.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

Like I mentioned, I’ve been at Bosh Drip a lot lately, and my shop attendant loves to play Beyonce radio on Spotify; so that is what I have been listening to. It reminds me a lot of my younger self and keeps me jamming throughout the day!

WHAT I’VE LEARNED

In the month of September I learned that everything always turns out ok! I faced a lot of high pressure situations last month, which taught me not only how to compartmentalise, but also how to focus on the most important issues first then tackle the rest. In the end, everything always works out!

WHERE I HAVE BEEN

In August, I visited the Eco Farmhouse in Murang’a and honestly I loved every single bit of it. It is one of those places I feel like you go to when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just be in touch with nature.

There is lots of fresh air and new, interesting activities that I hadn’t done before, like feeding ostriches. If you need some time away to just free your mind and body, I would definitely recommend taking a trip down to the Eco Farmhouse. 

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessed with Samyang Hot Sauce. My favourite way to have it is with some KFC chicken. I can barely feel my tongue right now because of how much chilli I have been eating lately.

I got it from Amazon UAE and I shipped it in through Malahide. If you are a mukbang fan, I would definitely recommend it. 

WHAT I’VE LEARNED

I have been learning to do a lot of  things that bring my soul joy, which ties back to our last affirmation for September: I will settle for nothing less than magic in my life.

There is a lot more to life than working and making money. I also want to experience as much as I can and as much as life has to offer, before time runs out. 

WHAT I’M WATCHING

A movie that I thoroughly enjoyed was “Loving Adults” on Netflix. Let me tell you guys, the twists and turns!! If you are in love with drama (I wouldn't really call it horror), definitely, DEFINITELY check it out! There is a twist and a turn that you don’t see coming every couple of seconds. 

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

I am currently listening to the WYB playlist on Spotify. I got the link from my new friend, Victor Peace, when we were collaborating on some Instagram content. It is really nice, chill music. If you like to listen to music as you are working, it is definitely a playlist that you should check out. 

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

Finally, I am really really excited for the re-brand of Bosh Drip. Slowly but surely it is coming together. We are still a few weeks away from launching the re-brand, it’s not anytime soon; but I am still excited because every single week, there is something to look forward to and I am really enjoying the design process as well.

Happy New Month! It’s finally Gemini season and what has been killing me are all the memes about Geminis. I’m definitely relating to all of them and I’m super duper excited for my birthday month!! 💃🏾

WHERE I’VE BEEN

This week I got to attend the launch of my friend Linda Jenna’s salon, Jeav Beauty Parlour. It’s located on the second floor of Viking House in Westlands. I love that it’s a salon where you can get your makeup done and one thing about Linda is that she will do your makeup really, really fast! So if you ever need your makeup done and you’re in a hurry, I would 100% recommend Linda!

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I’m currently obsessed with an assortment of pens that I got from Jumia – the brand is Gel-X. I love them because they come in so many colours! I have pinky, purple, green, red, blue… you can tell what kind of person I was in high school. Everything had it’s own colour 😂

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Do you guys remember when I was OBSESSED with Chicago Fire? Well, I finally started watching Chicago Med again, but I’m not sure I like it as much as Chicago Fire. The drama is just not as much, but I’m enjoying seeing some of the characters from Chicago Fire on Chicago Med. Let me watch a couple more episodes and then I’ll let you know how it goes.

HOW I’M PRACTICING SELF-CARE

Intentionally scheduling rest time!! The last three weeks have been so hectic and I’ve found that I have to schedule rest periods the same way I schedule meetings.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I’m looking forward to my birthday shoot. You all know that I always do something special to commemorate growing older 😅 I can’t wait to see what the team pulls off this year.

Hey  Squad!

I just want to start off by saying a huge, huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the second edition of the Slay Squad Game Night! In case you guys didn’t know, I actually don’t set the questions myself, so I was able to participate and play – and let me tell you guys for a fact, The Squad does not play. Despite it being my own Game Night, I appeared nowhere close to the top!

WHERE I’VE BEEN

This past week I got to tick Samburu off my 2022 bucket list 💃🏾 I travelled with Dream Africa Tours and the most exciting thing we did was swim in the natural pool at Buffalo Springs National Reserve. You guys already know that when I go on a trip, I’m going to spend half the time in the water. It was so cool to literally go from seeing lions in the park to swimming in a spring just a few kilometres ahead, with antelopes and zebras in the distance.

I also attended a high tea for the launch of House of Humba by Kate Actress. It’s going to be a personal care brand and the first product they’re releasing is a lip care kit. I cannot wait to try the lip masks!!

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

Tom Ford’s METALLIQUE. It’s a very clean, fresh scent, which I absolutely love! I literally want to walk around smelling like a box of detergent 😂

Ok, that’s not what it smells like… but it’s clean and fresh. And I love that for me!

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I just finished Blood Sisters, which is a Nigerian series. Although there are mixed reviews about the show in general, the one thing I liked was Nancy Isime, who plays the best friend, Kemi. She delivered! And, at the end of the day, we need to support African and Kenyan content. I think her performance in Blood Sisters was outstanding!

WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK

Well, not really just last week, but over the last couple of weeks, I’ve learned to use sound effects when editing videos. I feel like it’s made a huge difference in my reels. They’re starting to look and feel the way I imagined it would turn out before filming.

This past week I had been really, really looking forward to the Rema concert. I even had my yellow outfit (if you know, you know)! But, heh! It was capital H for hectic. But we still managed to make the most out of it. Shout out to everyone who I met there!

WHERE I’VE BEEN

Last week I got the chance to attend a tasting by Radison Blu Upperhill. They’re going to be reopening this week and it was such a pleasure to be invited by the Executive Chef to their restaurant, Chop House, to try out what they will be serving on their menu.

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I’m currently obsessing over the new Maybelline Lifter Gloss. They are so hydrating and most of their shades are nude, which is right up my alley. You guys already know that I am a lover of anything nude and glossy! So this collection is just perfect for me!

WHAT I’VE LEARNED THIS WEEK

This week I learned that it’s ok to take some time off and recharge. My “mid-term” ended up being a bit longer, but I think I needed the break. I’ve also learned that it’s ok when things don’t go exactly according to plan. It’s ok. You are not going to die!!

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I have just finished watching Shooter on Netflix and oh, my God – the ending! A couple of years ago, I watched season one and just recently went back to watch the other seasons. The way season 3 ends… heartbreak!!

MY FINANCIAL TIP

My financial tip this week is to be smart about the way you spend your money. For me, that can mean being aware about little decisions, like selecting a hairstyle that will last me a really long time 😅

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

The second edition of Game Night, which will be happening NEXT WEEK 🎉🎉 You heard it here first!! Also I know last time so many of you tried to access Game Night and the site crashed 🙈 But Tuni has worked to improve the platform so that it can hold more people at the same time.

Happy new week! I’m back again with another favorite’s list!

The best thing that happened to me this last week… well, actually, I’m not sure if it’s the best thing, but it’s the most exciting thing that happened - hands down was going bungee jumping. It was quite the experience. Really scary! We did it at Sagana and it was not on my bucket list, but I had to go back and forcefully add it to my bucket list so that I can tick it off 😂

WHERE I’VE BEEN

I took a trip with my family to Watamu. Yes… I missed last week’s newsletter because we were out vacationing 💃🏾

It felt nice to just kick my feet up and do nothing the entire time. We stayed in the penthouse villa at Medina Palms in Watamu, where my family enjoyed lounging in the jacuzzi.

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessed with my new tan coat! I shipped it in from Boohoo in the UAE, using Malahide. It is definitely an investment piece and I’m glad that what I expected is was I received. I feel like it will serve me for many years to come.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I am currently watching Northern Rescue. I finally finished the episodes of Chicago Fire that are on Netflix. Which reminds me – when I was on my way to Watamu, I saw the fire station at terminal 2 in JKIA and it got me so excited, I had to take a quick picture of it 😂

But, back to Northern Rescue… there are a couple of seasons of the show on Netflix and I’m excited to binge on it.

HOW I’M PRACTICING SELF-CARE

I am practicing self-care by getting massages. Especially after the bungee jumping, I was so sore!

Anne, my masseuse, gives the most amazing Swedish massages. She only charges 2,500 shillings and will come all the way to your house. If you want to give Anne a try, let me know in the comments below and I can leave her contact information!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

What I am looking forward to this coming week is my YouTube content. I have been super busy and have not had time to film any content. I have missed it so much and I’m looking forward to shooting my next video 😍

I hope you are all well!

I really, really enjoyed my stay in Malindi, but I have to admit that my favourite thing that happened this week was getting to come back home into my own bed, my own space. Hotel room beds are really awesome, but nothing beats the feeling of getting into your own bed.

WHERE I’VE BEEN

After all the swimming in Malindi, my nails were damaged! I had to take a trip to Phoina Nail Bar where we did an olive oil treatment on my nails and I was advised to keep them bare so that I can strengthen them by giving them a little break from all the gel polish.

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessed with my eyelash applicator! I don’t know why it took me so long to get one, but I recently took advantage of Jumia’s global shipping offer and got one at an affordable price. I love how much easier it is to now apply lashes!

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I’m still watching Chicago Fire, but I feel like need breaks in between the episodes so I have just started watching Bridgerton. I am curious to see how much I will like this second season given that the Duke is no longer on the show. But I’m giving it a chance.

HOW I’M PRACTICING SELF-CARE

I have been practicing self-care by doing stretches. I fell off my workout band wagon but in the yoga class I did in Malindi, the instructor told me that I am quite flexible and I think it’s because of the stretches I had started doing at the beginning of the year. So I just got back into it. It’s really simple – I search five to 10 minute yoga stretches on YouTube (like the one below) and that’s what I do!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I’m looking forward to taking my family on vacation this week. It’s such a blessing to be able to do that. My only hope is that the destinations keep getting farther away, and time differences keep getting longer.

The best thing that happened to me this week, was definitely getting to go to the beach! I have enjoyed my enourmous pool time plus creating time to get amazing content for you guys! I can’t wait for you to watch my Malindi vlog 😍

WHERE I’VE BEEN

The most exciting place that I have been this week is MSO in Malindi town, where they take recycled plastic and turn them into handbags. The bags have really cute designs and it’s such a great way to take care of our environment while also recycling material!

WHAT I’VE LEARNED

This week, I learned to sit at the bottom of the pool! The trick is to exhale before you go under water and that helps you sit at the bottom of the pool. It might sound funny but it’s something I’ve always wanted to learn how to do 😂

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I’m still watching Chicago Fire! Shout out to Laur_ who commented last week to let me know that Chicago Fire has 10 seasons. Now I’m even more excited to keep binging on it.

HOW I’M PRACTICING SELF-CARE

For self-care last week, I went to Mvua Spa in Malindi where I had a couple of exciting new experiences. The first experience was standing in a salt water pool. Honestly, this was a bit painful because there were jets shooting water out of the sides of the pool. The second experience was the dead water pool, which I enjoyed because the only thing I had to do was float in the water. Plus, my skin really loves salt water, so for the next couple days, I’m going to be glowing!!

I also did a yoga class where we were learning to do hand stands - that was pretty exciting as well!

MY LATEST FINANCIAL TIP

My financial tip this week is to book your trips in advance. You save so much money if you book your air tickets and your hotel stay at least a couple of months ahead of time, as opposed to just before your trip. Try to plan your trips early on in the year so you can save money by booking way in advance.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

Finally, what I’m looking forward to – which is my next trip!

I’m going to Nanyuki with Dream Africa Tours. I’ve never stayed in Nanyuki over night and I’m always excited for new experiences.

Hey Squad!

I’m back again with another update. The best thing that happened this week was definitely getting to hang out with my family over an all you can eat buffet. It was a lot of love and laughter all around. I think it’s what I needed to fill my cup for the week.

WHERE I’VE BEEN

Last week I attended two events: the first was Phoina Beauty launching their first retail store. As usual, my outfit arrived 30 minutes before the event 😂 But I really enjoyed getting dolled up. My favourite product from that event has to be the nude lipstick in the shade ‘melanin’.

The second event that I attended was for NIVEA. It was held at Zen Garden and there was lots of food (the sushi was my favourite). Other than that, I enjoyed learning more about skin care and how the NIVEA Luminous630 works to reduce dark marks.

WHAT I’M OBSESSED WITH

I am currently obsessing over my next trip to the beach, which will be some time this week and I really cannot wait for that!🍹

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Right now I am watching Chicago Fire. I love how long each season is - and there are four seasons so this is going to be a binge for a really, really long time.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

I am listening to a lot of Kane Brown. His voice isn’t what you typically hear in country music. If you’ve never listened to Kane Brown before, check him out on YouTube… let me know what you think!

All the trips that I have planned for the month of April!! 💃🏾💃🏾

I have been feeling like I need to get out of Nairobi. Thankfully I have a lot of trips in April and I love that for me!
