The average NFL career lasts 3.3 years. Malik Jackson played for 10 seasons.

Malik was selected in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Fifth-round picks aren't supposed to last a decade in the NFL. They're not supposed to win Super Bowls. They're not supposed to make the Pro Bowl.

But Malik Jackson did all three.

In Super Bowl 50, Malik scored the game's first touchdown when he recovered a fumble in the end zone forced by Von Miller — giving the Broncos an early 10-0 lead over the Carolina Panthers. Denver won 24-10, and Malik became a Super Bowl champion in his fourth NFL season.

After leaving Denver, Malik signed an $85.5 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he moved from defensive end to defensive tackle and became part of "Sacksonville" — one of the most dominant defensive lines in NFL history. In 2017, Malik made the Pro Bowl after recording 8 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 40 total tackles.

Over 10 seasons, Malik played for 4 different organizations — Denver Broncos (2012-2015), Jacksonville Jaguars (2016-2018), Philadelphia Eagles (2019-2020), and Cleveland Browns (2021). He navigated position changes, team transitions, injuries, and role adjustments while maintaining his professionalism and performance.

What separated Malik's 10-year career from the average 3.3 years? It wasn't just talent. It was preparation, adaptability, and the mental toughness to stay ready when opportunity met the moment.

21 Seasons, 3 World Series, and What It Really Takes to Last

Most Major League Baseball careers last 5.6 years. Randy Choate played for 21 seasons.

Over his distinguished career, Randy appeared in 538 games, played for 8 different organizations (New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays, Florida/Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals), and was part of three World Series teams — winning championships with the 2000 and 2001 New York Yankees and competing in the 2013 World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals.

As one of the most respected left-handed specialists in professional baseball, Randy's career wasn't defined by one team or one role — it was defined by his ability to adapt, prepare, and maintain professional excellence through every transition.

Randy navigated multiple releases, trades, role changes, and organizational shifts. He went from starter to reliever, from setup man to specialist, from contender to rebuilding team and back again. Through it all, he maintained elite performance standards and built a reputation as a consummate professional.

37 Years, 746 Wins, and What Character Really Means

Chip Reitano has been coaching for 37 years — and he's still going.

Approaching 350 wins in women's basketball and 746 wins across his entire coaching career spanning high school and college, Chip has been recognized as High School Coach of the Year four times and College Coach of the Year twice. Jay Jackson was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 2008 MLB Draft. He never played a game for the Cubs.

Instead, Jay spent nearly two decades grinding through professional baseball — six MLB teams (San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins), four years playing in Japan (Hiroshima Toyo Carp, Chiba Lotte Marines), countless minor league stops, roster cuts, releases, and the constant uncertainty of being a journeyman.

His path wasn't straight. He started as a starting pitcher, transitioned to the bullpen to extend his career, and bounced between the majors and Triple-A for years. But Jay never quit. In 2023, he posted a 2.12 ERA with Toronto. In 2024, he struggled with Minnesota and was designated for assignment. In 2025, he retired from playing and became the pitching coach for the West Virginia Black Bears.

What happens when you spend 24 years coaching college basketball, win championships, develop NBA stars, and then transition to business?

Tim Kaine lived that journey. As a college basketball coach at Murray State, Tim coached NBA star Ja Morant, won four OVC regular season championships, three tournament titles, and two NCAA tournament games. He served as Chief of Staff and Assistant Coach at LSU, bringing championship culture to one of the SEC's premier programs.

But Tim's story starts even earlier. As a two-sport college athlete, Tim played basketball at UT-Martin and soccer at Winthrop University, earning Tennessee State Player of the Year honors and High School All-American recognition in soccer. After 24 years of coaching, Tim transitioned into business development at MMR, focused on building relationships and supporting the company's growth in electrical and instrumentation services. What if your job as an athletic director, coach, or leader wasn't about winning games — it was about transforming people?

John Woods lives that reality every day. As Athletic Director at Libertyville High School, John oversees one of the largest athletic departments in Illinois — 31 varsity sports, 93 teams, and a $1.1 million budget. But those numbers don't define his work.

For more than two decades, John's mission has been simple and unwavering: to inspire, influence, educate, and empower others to become the best they are capable of becoming.

In 2018, John founded Wildcats Will, a mental performance and leadership development academy that teaches student-athletes how to lead themselves, respond to adversity, think neutrally, compete with resilience, and strengthen the habits of championship performers. In 2025, the program expanded beyond Illinois with a community-wide implementation at Flushing High School in Michigan.

John authored and continues to chair LTC 727 (Leadership Training Course), the national course on building, cultivating, and sustaining championship culture. He has taught the course across the country, presented at the National Athletic Directors Conference, and dedicated over 20 years of service to the Illinois Athletic Directors Association as President, Treasurer, and Hall of Fame Chair.
