The Star Wars Canon Timeline Podcast

Elysia welcomes back fantasy literature and history scholar Marilyn R. Pukkila to finish their discussion of Canon stories set during the Old Republic. They dive back in with two more Sith stories about female Sith Lords who find succeed in their quests for immortality – kind of (00:10:43), plus a "werewolf" story about a mad Shistavanen (00:48:49) – a species that will appear in December's Skeleton Crew series.

Then Elysia checks in with first Bob followed by Marcin to answer listener feedback in our first Old Republic mailbag (01:21:16), covering everything from audio book recommendations to listener-supplied additional KOTOR game lore.

Stories covered in this episode: (from Star Wars: Dark Legends) "A Life Immortal," "Blood Moon," and "The Sleep of Ages" (from the Target edition)

Recorded July 16 & 30, Aug 19, & Sept 22, 2024

John joins Elysia to talk through not only his thoughts about the finale of The Acolyte, and the season as a whole – but also how the show is being received throughout the community. (And how grateful we all are to have some respectful discourse from fans.) Along the way we discuss everything from the complexities of social work to the pros and cons of that Imri Cantaros theory going around.

(Stay tuned to the Lorehounds and Canon Padawan feeds for a spoiler-filled season wrap-up episode coming soon as well!)

Elysia and John "Teach / Corrupt" extra insight into The Acolyte episode 6 – from everything we know (and have been told by the showrunner) about the Unknown planet to what we should keep in mind about Vernestra's conversation with the alien Senator with the Beastie Boys name.

Plus, more dives, of course – including a unique style of fighting only possible with a lightsaber.

Elysia and John dissect "Night," episode 5 of The Acolyte – a thrilling gut punch of an episode. From secret Sith and secret second blades to the Knights of Ren and our goodbye to saying John's favorite name on the show – unlike Bazil we won't leave you alone in the jungle (of Acolyte analysis).

Elysia and John are back to break down episode 4 of The Acolyte season 1 – “Day.” One calls it half an episode, the other the pivot point in a mirror image. Their scene-by-scene walkthrough picks out telling character moments, the most important lore, the silliest hashtags, and what the actors have said about their motivations in scenes. And then Elysia drops another non-Jedi/Sith Force-user lorebomb, mining Canon and Legends alike for some of the most unusual types of Force users in the galaxy.

A flashback episode set 16 years before everything we saw in the first two episodes of The Acolyte offers the beginnings of answers – and Elysia and John mine episode 3: “Destiny” for all possible hints of what happened that night, what we might see next, and lore worth knowing.

But first, fellow Lorehounds host David joins them for a soul-searching opening conversation on the nature of power, parenthood, the place of science in fantasy, and what it means to be a Jedi.

We now know who is killing Jedi – so in this deep dive into the second episode of The Acolyte on Disney+ John and Elysia ask why. Is it for “Revenge / Justice”? They break down means and motives, Jecki and Qimir's jokes, Force witches, the relative sussness of all the characters so far, and as always Yord's hair.

The mystery deepens. The wookiee Jedi roars “GET OFF MY LAWN!” Sol shines as a beacon of hope…so far.
