We tend to think that compromises of character can be isolated into “safe areas” of our life, so that they don’t affect the rest of our life. That’s a lie. A little leaven leavens the whole loaf.

When something stresses you, it’s time to switch from react mode to respond mode. Calm yourself, breathe, take a third-person view, and get your control back.

Stop using the disempowering word “should,” and start using the empowering word “could.”

A life at peace, or a good life, is a natural by-product of a virtuous response to whatever circumstances life presents to you.
