Augusta High School basketball coach & AD, Jason Hinson, talks about his coaching stops from St. Patrick (Maysville) through to his current job with the Panthers.  Coach Hinson is in his second stint at the helm of the Augusta basketball program, sandwiched in with a four-year stop at his alma mater, Bracken County High School.  We also talk about how the COVID restrictions have effected his fall sports teams, as well as a look ahead for the challenge facing the winter sports teams.

High school football is back!  To celebrate this gloriousness, co-host Joe Danneman and I break down the matchups in NKY and review some of the key returners to each team from last season.  We preview the districts, rankings (not ours) and also the QB race on Dixie Highway.

We sit down with Scott High football coach, Eric Turner, to catch his thoughts on the upcoming season, the return of key position players and how the experience they gained last season will help the Eagles win games.

Daniel Brummett and Jordan Adkins of the Northern Kentucky Officials Association come on to discuss several topics in regards to the football officiating in Northern Kentucky: recruiting new officials, training, expectations during the COVID restrictions and how technology has advanced their ability to reach people and boosted their ability to train not only newer officials, but the veterans as well.  Daniel and Jordan are both experienced crew chiefs, leaders in their association and exceptional football officials.  If you have interest in joining the local association in NKY, their website is www.nkoafootball.com.  They can also be found on Facebook under Northern Kentucky Officials Association.

Newport Central Catholic Principal and Head Basketball Coach, Ron Dawn, sits down to talk a little about his playing days at NewCath and Thomas More, but also about his coaching career. Coach Dawn took over the St. Henry program in 1985 and spent four seasons with the Crusaders before taking over at Newport Central Catholic. In his time as a head coach, he’s won over 500 games, boys and girls, won the 9th Region Title three times and four All ‘A’ State Championships. In what will most likely be the final chapter in a long and successful career, Coach Dawn spent some time looking back on some of the special players and memories that helped make it all happen.

Kenton County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Henry Webb, is a forward-thinker and has blazed a trail in the education world through developing programs and enhancing academic opportunities.  In these extraordinary times of education, he discusses the way Kenton County Schools are navigating the ever-changing landscape; the work the school staff and administrators have done to make sure every kid has the chance to achieve; the innovative programs the district utilizes to prepare kids for the real world, as well as the bumps and successes the district has faced since the March shutdown through the school year beginning virtually.

Griffin Elite basketball trainer, Adam Goetz, has been involved with basketball since birth.  The son of a coach, he grew up at practices and games at St. Henry prior to an outstanding career for the Crusaders.  Adam scored over 1200 points in high school, was honorable mention all-state his senior year, and has been recognized by the conference, the coaches association and postseason tournaments for his on the court efforts.  After high school, Adam went on to play two years at Mount St. Joseph and the last two years at Kentucky Wesleyan, where he scored over 1400 points, earned all-conference honors each of his four-year career and led the conference in 3 point field goal percentage.  Adam currently trains basketball players at Griffin Elite, a job that has kept him close to the game and gives him the opportunity to teach the skills he has learned to a younger generation of kids.

Ludlow Lady Panther basketball coach, Aaron Stamm, joins the show to talk girls basketball in the NKY area; the transition from being a boys coach to a girls coach; how tough it's been not being able to be around his team; being a dad during the COVID era and how moving into coaching girls basketball has led him into a successful career.

Cooper Basketball Coach, Tim Sullivan, joins the show to talk about his playing days at Holmes High School and Brescia College.  Also, how fate played a role in his getting into coaching, the lessons he learned as a young head coach and how he developed the vision for what would be implemented into the Cooper Jaguar basketball program.  

Holmes Basketball Coach, Brad Carr, joins the show to talk about his coaching journey from Holmes Middle school, Newport and Simon Kenton prior to a 12 year stint at Scott High School.  Entering his third season at the helm of the Bulldog basketball program, his alma mater, we also talk about his time playing for the Bulldogs and the pride he has in leading its storied program.
