Being busy is almost a badge of honor for many people - but our bodies can survive longer without food than they can without rest.* So why does it feel like grinding all the time and never taking a break is a good idea?
Today, Grant, Daniel, and Brandon talk about a time in Brandon's life when he learned the hard way how real burnout can be a problem and what he did to change that trajectory in his life. We talk about the importance of rest, the reality that rest looks different for everyone, and some practical ideas of how to implement rhythms of rest in your daily life.
You are a steward of your time, and rest is a vital piece of how your time needs to be spent.

"When we actually let Him be God, it's amazing what He will do."
Stewardship is more than just money, as we say all the time on this podcast. It is a mindset that we do not own what we have, but we have been entrusted to manage these things. But knowing how to manage our finances, our talents, our families, all of that can be challenging, especially if we have the wrong mindset.
Today, Jeremy interviews Marcus Hall, a financial advisor in Alabama. They discuss Marcus' book Spiritual Wealth, a 40-day Journey to Developing a Stewardship Mindset.
Marcus went on a journey last year to address a real need he saw in his community. That is why he wrote this 40 day devotional for a daily dose of developing the right mindset in our lives.
You can purchase a copy of the book here: https://stewardshipmindset.com/ and when you order, you will gain access to Marc's Spiritual Wealth Mini-Course and instantly receive the e-book.

"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children,
but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous."
Proverbs 13:22
We all want to leave our families better off when we pass. So why do we wait until we're older to plan for this? Estate planning is more than a set of documents and legalese. It is a process that is best started early. And it's not just about the documents or the plan, but it's about equipping your children to handle what you leave them so they can steward it just as well if not better than you did. It's vital that we talk without kids about money. Start the conversations early, there's no need to keep your finances a private matter. You and your spouse can invite your kids into the process.
In today's podcast, Grant and Jeremy discuss the mindset you should have around financial planning and go through some practical steps, including the difference between a will and a trust and how you can set yourself up to leave an amazing financial legacy for your family.
As Christians, it is our responsibility to steward our money well.
Paying a ton in taxes is not necessarily the best way to do that.
We have a few practical ways you can plan ahead and reduce your taxes. Not for self-centered ends, but to give you the ability to direct those funds to the areas of greatest need in your community, using tax credits, careful investment planning, and working with a wise advisor.
Today, Jeremy and Grant discuss how you can have more money without increasing your income and without cutting expenses. We can all agree that the government is not the most efficient at handling money, right? There are a few simple things you can do throughout the year to pay less in taxes and use the money you have to make a bigger kingdom impact. You should be the one stewarding your funds, not the government. Today's podcast will equip you with the tools to make sure your money is doing more for your local community and for your future.
In last week's episode of our financial planning series, we talked about having the proper mindset around your goals. This week is all about action. Grant interviews Jeremy to uncover the proper steps to actually achieve those goals, from time horizons to asset allocation - and if that sounds super complex, don't worry. They make it super simple and clear. How far away is the ideal achievement of those goals? And what types of investments should the money be put into? At the end of the podcast, you will know what you need to do to achieve your financial goals.
Don't forget to listen to each episode in our financial planning series!
By now, many people have already given up on New Year's Resolutions. Donuts taste too good. If you have given up on your goals, you're not alone. But I have some even better news: NOT TOO LATE! You can shift your mindset about your goals right now and get back in the saddle.
In this week's edition of our Financial Planning series, Jeremy and Grant talk about having the right mindset for setting goals within a financial plan. They talk through the aspects of your future you should consider and what kinds of things you should plan for. Think about how much you want to give to charities or churches, think about what kinds of memories you want to create with your family this year. Think through what kind of lifestyle you want to have in retirement. How will your kids pay for college? All of these questions can feel overwhelming. That's where it helps to work with a wise advisor to develop a financial plan that is designed to reach your personal goals.
Don't forget to check out the last few episodes of the Defining Stewardship Podcast if you have missed any in this series. We are taking some time out of the beginning of this year to help you define what good stewardship is in your life.
